First Impressions: Fenty Skin

Initial Impressions: Fenty Skin

A couple weeks ago, Fenty Skin introduced it’s first trio of products to high fanfare and glowing initial reviews. As someone who loves skincare, I had to give these a go and wanted to share my initial impressions of using all three products consistently over the past week.

First off, I love that the line is targeted for both men and women, designed to be used by any gender, for all skin tones. I also love the thoughtfulness around sustainability, the clean formulas, the simple, beautiful lavender packaging.

Breaking it down a bit more, they use more recyclable materials and refillable packs (Hydra Vizor). The Fat Water goes on with fingertips, instead of cotton pads, further reducing unnecessary waste. Rihanna is also stressing the importance of sunscreen, which is crucial and much appreciated.

Overall, super positive thoughts about these first three products. I think the textures are lovely and the formulations generally great for summer. For my thoughts on each individual product, read on…

  • Total Cleans’r Remove-It-All Cleanser – $25

This cream-to-foam formula feels lush and ultra soft. It doesn’t feel drying and does the job at removing makeup. I usually don’t put a lot of stock into cleansers… I just want them to do the job and not feel like they are stripping off all the good, natural oils. This one doesn’t and my skin doesn’t feel too tight after cleansing either. It’s packed with Vitamin C and other antioxidants and has a subtle tropical, sort of citrusy fragrance, but again, it’s very light. I definitely see myself continuing to use it.

  • Fat Water Pore-Refining Toner Serum – $28

I have to say I love this formula. Part toner, part serum, but really more solid than your traditional toner, feeling more viscous like an actual serum. Goes on easily without a cotton pad and takes a few seconds to really sink in. Formulated with niacinamide to improve skin tone and texture, plus helps brighten and reduce pores. Witch hazel is the second ingredient though, so for me, I’m loving it right now in the summer when I’m trying to control oil, but it may be a tad drying during the winter months. Certainly for those of you who are prone to redness and dryness year round, you may skip this one in your routine. But again, for me, right now, I love this. Also, once again, very light fragrance.

  • Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen – $35

This lightweight 2-in-1 sunscreen and moisturizer has a nice finish that’s not shiny and goes on clear. Love the texture, which feels more like a creamier gel, but again, very nice for summer. This one is also formulated with niacinamide, plus hyaluronic acid and aloe to help hydrate and soothe.

Although I’ve been loving this one for day, I would love to see Fenty Skin give us a nighttime moisturizer formulated with other ingredients which will better benefit us while we sleep. I also feel this is one that I might not use in winter months as my skin will be craving something a lot creamier to keep my skin fully hydrated.
