5 Skincare Resolutions For 2018

5 Skincare Resolutions For 2018

Investing in your skin is a must and it’s never too late to show it some love. With the new year, this is the perfect time to get seriously disciplined with your skincare regime. While we can’t magically erase wrinkles and look 20 years younger, we surely can improve the look and health of our skin, diminish signs of aging, and look our very best. Here are 5 easy resolutions to help you look and feel fabulously glowy and bright in 2018.

Figure out your regime

This is often the hardest part. Finding the right products for your skin is tough, but hugely rewarding. You have to cater to your skin type and concerns. As many of you know, I recently went through this process again and picked up a bunch of samples, talked to many people, read reviews and tried out tons of products. It’s been soooo worth it… my skin has never felt or looked this good. Legit.

My regime is as follows:

  • Cleanser – I use an oil cleanser from Olive + M and I love it!
  • Essence – A concentrated formula that hydrates and preps your skin so that the products you use after (serums + moisturizer) absorb more fully. Plus using the right essence can greatly help target concerns by taking the essence’s active ingredients deeper into your skin.
  • Strengthener/Serum – I first use a Strengthening Concentrate and then switch up my serums every day. I use dark spot corrector serums and vitamin C/hylauronic acid serums for day, at night I use refining and restorative serums.
  • Moisturizer – A non-greasy, lightweight-but-hydrating moisturizer is what I use before the makeup routine starts. If your moisturizer doesn’t have SPF, make sure you use after the moisturizer. USING SPF IS A MUST! At night, I use my “work horse” cream—a thicker, more hydrating moisturizer that will help renew and transform my skin overnight.
  • Eye Cream – Hydrating the eye area is so important, not only to avoid fine lines and wrinkles, but to help avoid creasing in your concealer. Really, the most important step you can take in making your makeup look and feel good is having hydrated skin.

Below I linked the products I LOVE and use. Now I know that some of these aren’t cheap, but I chose to really go all in with my skincare… I’m getting close to 40 and not messing around!

Do it on the regular

Every day, friends, every single day. I know we all want to fall into the bed at the end of the day, mascara eyes be damned, but it makes a huge difference to follow your skincare regime morning and night, day in and day out. Don’t make it a choice and it will pay off big time.

Get your mask on

Putting on a mask feels like a mini spa day, I swear! It’s so fun and I find it’s helped my skin feel and look so good. I use a mask every Wednesday and Saturday, and sometimes more than that. Incorporating a mask in your routine is a fun way to give yourself some me-time while it does all the necessary work for your skin.

Here are some of my current faves (I vary it up every time):

Wash your brushes weekly

Girl, you don’t want breakouts or bacteria on your skin, so wash your brushes every week. I use a combo of a soft dish soap and water in a cup and then let my brushes soak about 25 minutes. After, I rinse them out in running water and brush them over a dry towel before I let them dry overnight. I usually do this on Saturday night, while my mask is on and tingling.

Drink more water

There’s nothing like water to help your skin look it’s best, in fact, it really does help ALL THE THINGS. So drink as much as you can every day (at least 2 liters a day), and you’ll see brighter skin, smaller pores, shiny locks and much more. DRINK! DRINK! DRINK!
