5 Must-Have Bags for Spring

5 Must-Have Bags for Spring

More than makeup, more than skincare, more than clothes and shoes and all the baubles—it’s handbags that are my first love.  I remember buying my first Dooney & Burke, my first Coach, my first Louis, and not too long ago, my first Chanel. But it’s not just about brand names, it’s about the joy of switching out bags, often daily, to coordinate with my look, to match my mood or channel the season. I’m absolutely loving some of the bags I’m seeing lately. There are some really gorgeous ones for spring & summer and I especially love the structure to them. Here are some of my favorite bags perfect for the warmer season!

The Transparent Tote

LA-based label, Staud, has really taken off in the past couple years and they’re definitely touting one of the “it” bags of the season. The Shirley bag is a structured PVC tote perfect for spring and summer. Chances are you may have seen already on Instagram, or in the hands of one of your favorite celebrities. They aren’t outrageously priced and come in a variety of colors and textures. They all have a super functional removable zip pouch too. I have (and absolutely LOVE) the black croc-embossed leather style.

Some less expensive options include:

The Honey Pot Bag

I love this style of bag, with my fave being Clare V’s Pot De Miel. Although woven bags will always be on trend for the season, this bag brings a different style that feels chic, fresh and more structured. There are crossbody options, as well as handbag styles you can show off at any girls’ brunch or happy hour. The Pot De Miel has a leather top handle, or you can also wear it crossbody with a strap from their collection. There are also some other similar “bucket” style bags you can choose from that range from pricey to affordable.

The Net Bag

My favorite is once again a Staud bag. Their super-popular Moreau bag is designed with a leather bucket couched in a modern netting with matching leather handles. Other structures are available from other brands, and you can even find a Moreau dupe here and here on Amazon.

The Circle Bag

Whether woven or leather, big or mini, circle (and canteen) bags bring a modern, sophisticated style to the season. I just love the clean shape, and gravitate towards those that have unexpected color or texture. I love the Clare V Moyen Alice sisal option (also available in mini), mainly for it’s chunky strap, and her circle clutch is so bomb with that yellow handle. There are so many styles though, making this option super wallet friendly.

The Neutral Crossbody

Nothing better than heading out the door, hands free, a chic crossbody packed with your essentials. Summer concerts, picnics, shopping dates and night outs are made easier when you don’t have to worry about forgetting your handbag. I also love neutrals for the season, which pair so well with busy florals and brighter clothing shades. Beige, blush, tan, soft gray and even white hues look elegant and so chic. With Mother’s Day coming up, I also included some of my favorite luxury cross body bags into the mix!

Can’t decide if I’m getting old or if I’m just boring, but the neutral cross body is the only 1 of the 5 I’d buy.
