How To Style Your Fall Bar Cart

Divvy up your cart into zones

To help get you started and organized, reserve a specific zone of the bar cart for your essentials: glassware, tools, liquor/bottles, decorative items, etc.

I use the top as more of my “show off” space, showcasing our cool Fall glassware and sometimes fun paper straws that coordinate with my warmer color scheme. The bottom I save for actual bottles. Sometimes you can clean up the space and add texture all at once by storing them in a woven basket. In this case, I didn’t because the space seemed tight with my oversized vase and florals, which I placed to add height.

Don’t over think it

While you might want to run out and get every cocktail tool and tchotchke, you only need a few simple ones for the drinks you like to make and serve. I have a simple set I picked up from Target and a few shakers hidden behind some bottles. That’s all we use and I didn’t want to crowd the space.

Add some whimsy + style

Your bar cart style should work with the rest of your home’s decor, so be thoughtful about color, pattern, texture and seasonal accents. I switch up my bar cart decor often and Fall is such a great time to have some fun with it. Throw in some gourds or pine cones to cozy it up and think about how you can layer your warm-hued decor in to make it more visually compelling. I’ve got some stacked books and art (in deeper colors), with some decorative beads casually hanging to the frame’s side to add more texture and style. Lastly, I love adding twinkle lights because I want a festive, fun feel to it all!

Infuse your own style

Have fun with your cart! It’s a festive space by definition and it should represent you and what you love to drink. Elegant or rustic, vintagey or old-school sophisticated, there are lots of styles from which to get inspired and as we approach the holiday season, this is the perfect time to get your bar cart prepped for celebrating.

You can start off my making a spicy margarita or a spiced apple cider old fashioned!
