Summer is in full swing and when it’s so hot, it’s important to switch things up to keep you protected, healthy and in style, whether you’re running errands in the hot sun or relaxing poolside. Here are 10 beauty and style must haves!

Vitamin C Serum

Vitamin C is an antioxidant that will protect your skin from free radicals and help prevent and treat sun damage like dark spots on your complexion. Keeping your skin protected during these months where we’re all outside in the sun more often, is critical.

• SKINCEUTICALS C E FERULIC – The best of the best with 15% vitamin C and a patented formulation that really delivers results, but it’s pricey.
• SKIN SOLUTIONS C + E – A good, less expensive alternative to the Skinceutical serum with 15% vitamin C.
• MAD HIPPIE VITAMIN C – 10% vitamin C and super affordable, contains both ferulic and hyaluronic acid; great for sensitive skin too.

Lightweight Moisturizer

I love me a creamy moisturizer (and still what I reach for at night year round), but hotter months call for a lighter moisturizer that won’t clog your pores. These are the ones I use.

• TATCHA WATER CREAM – Loaded with Japanese nutrients and powerful botanicals like wild rose (to tighten pores), leopard lily (to control excess oil and purify skin) and hadasei-3 (anti-aging trinity that restores radiance). Bonus, there’s 23-karat gold in it! Oooh la la!
• CAUDALIE MOISTURIZING SORBET – Ultra-lightweight, gel-cream moisturizer that cools, refreshes, and hydrates; affordable at $39.
• BIOSSANCE SQUALANE + PROBIOTIC GEL MOISTURIZER – Very lightweight gel moisturizer that reduces redness and the appearance of pores.
• ELTAMD UV DAILY MOISTURIZER – A classic that works on every skin type, plus it has an SPF of 40, which I’m all about, especially in the summer.
• SUMMER FRIDAYS MASK – Although technically not a moisturizer, this is a great product to use as a primer or overnight mask to keep your skin hydrated and healthy.

Sunscreen Sans The Grease

An absolute must. Summer, winter, whatever… never leave the house without it on, just find yourself one that doesn’t leave your face feeling yucky and greasy!

• TATCHA SILKEN PORE PERFECTING SUNSCREEN – On the days I don’t use a tinted moisturizer with SPF, this is what I reach for—it’s my hands down, super-bomb fave. It’s expensive, ya’ll, but if you can afford it, you’ll love it because it also acts as a pore-blurring primer.
• SUPERGOOP! INVINCIBLE SETTING POWDER SPF 45 – I think you guys know how crazy I am about sunscreen, especially since I struggle with hyperpigmentation. My darkest areas are around the face, especially on the left side – the side that faces the driver’s window. Since I came to that ahaa moment, I’ve kept this powder in my car and I swipe on my skin every time I drive for extra protection.

Tinted Moisturizer

• CHANEL LES BEIGES TINTED MOISTURIZER SPF 30  – I love this product so much. Lightweight, sheer formula that gives you a natural, luminous finish. I’ve been using it pretty much daily. My color is Medium Light.
• LAURA MERCIER TINTED MOISTURIZER (OIL FREE) SPF 20 – My newest addition, and I picked it up oil free because I tend to get shiny in the summer. I love it! Sheer, natural, beautiful glow. My color is Bisque.
• IT COSMETICS YOUR SKIN BUT BETTER CC CREAM SPF 50 – Impressive coverage with the best SPF of the group. My color is Light.

Easy Shimmer

Summer is for natural beauty, bronzy, glowy skin and shimmery eyes. I’ve been loving the kind of shimmer and foil you can swipe on quickly, to give you the barest glint and glimmer. On days when I have a heavier, sultrier eye look, I’ll use these to add more high-impact shimmer on the lid.

• LAURA MERCIER CAVIAR STICK EYE COLOUR – 9 out of 10 times, this is what I’m grabbing these days. My favorite shades are Amethyst (soft taupe/mauve), Moonlight (metallic champagne) and Copper (metallic bronze)… but really, I need them all.
• GLOSSIER LIDSTAR – A beautiful range of twinkly colors you just swipe on. My faves are Moon and Cub!
• STILA GLITTER & GLOW + SHIMMER & GLOW – I’ve been using the Glitter & Glow liquid shadows for awhile… they are the prettiest shimmer. Around holiday time, Stila came out with a foil formula which is basically the shimmer sans the glitter. I had a few glitter ones I owned already, but ended up buying a giant set that had most colors on both sides. Love these!

Glossy Lips

I’m all about high shine, sheer lips this time of year and lately, I’ve been finding some great new collections and colors. These are some of my faves.

• MARC JACOBS ENAMORED HYDRATING LIP GLOSS STICKS – These new, nourishing tinted balms feel so good on the lips and swipe on very sheer. I picked up Uh-Huh Honey (bronzey shimmer) and One Mauve Time (berry shimmer) and want to try Mocha Choco-lata (pinky nude) and Black Cherry Baby (bronze cherry). All very wearable.
• HOURGLASS GIRL LIP STYLO – The range of nudes, roses and mauves in this line is gorgeous. I own five of these already and lovvvvvve them… they feel so creamy and are packaged so beautifully. I have Activist, Achiever, Nude #4, Visionary and Inventor.
• MARC JACOBS NEW NUDES – I have and love the color Role Play from this collection. I would say this has a creamier, but still sheer formula, when compared to the gloss sticks which definitely have more shimmer too.
• PAT MCGRATH LABS LUST LIP GLOSS – One of the Spring’s most buzzed-about launches… these glosses deliver “seductive shine” while not feeling sticky. I have the color Divine Rose.

That Bronzy Glow

• BECCA MAUI NIGHTS BRONZER – Such a gorgeous bronzer and my absolute fave of the group. I use this as a bronzer/blush and an eye shadow. The color description is “sienna-kissed bronze,” but essentially it has a terracotta/rose goldish undertone that makes this not only stunning, but so versatile.
• MARC JACOBS O!MEGA BRONZER COCONUT PERFECT TAN – This continues to be sold out unfortunately (because everyone loves it!), but it’s a great lightweight bronzer that doesn’t go on too dark… great for those who want a touch of bronze on your cheeks. Huge, beautiful white and rose gold compact too.
• HOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTING BRONZER – Like everything Hourglass, this has a beautiful finish. I own Diffused Bronzed Light, which gives you a cool bronze shade. They have $24 affordable mini sizes if you want to try them out first too!

Oil Erasers

If you’re like me, you’re constantly fighting the oil and shine in the summer. These are the products you need to erase the unwanted shine from your face.

• BENEFIT POREFESSIONAL AGENT ZERO SHINE – Never ever ever going to be without this product. I have one in my bag, one at home, and an extra just in case. A quick swipe with the brush and all the oil and shine are gone.
• CHARLOTTE TILBURY AIRBRUSH FLAWLESS FINISH POWDER – An elegant, finely milled powder that gives you a more flawless finish without the shine.

Hoop Earrings

I love me some big hoop earrings, especially when my hair is up… which it often is in the summer. Lucite and resin earrings are THE thing this summer and I wanted to share some of my faves with you!
