Review: The Problem With Him - Vilma Iris | Lifestyle Blogger

I’m over men. I’m done with them.

Or at least the ones that work in my kitchen. Fine, one man in particular. Wyatt Shaw is cocky and condescending and so far out of his element that he doesn’t know which way is up. Or how to run his brand new kitchen all by himself.

That’s where I come in. Sous chef extraordinaire. Second in command. Bane of his existence. I am the reason Wyatt’s doing so well as the new executive chef of one of our city’s most prestigious restaurants. He has me to thank for his glowing accolades and five-star write-ups. Only if you were to ask him, he’d say I’m his biggest problem.

Despite his discouragement and bullish behavior, I’ve set two goals for myself.

The first? I’m going to fight my way to the top of this male-dominated industry and claim my own award-winning kitchen.

The second? I’m going to do whatever it takes to ignore Wyatt and his rare smiles and the thickening tension that’s started to simmer between us.

Wyatt Shaw might be Durham’s new shining star. He might be up for a James Beard Award. He might be my new boss and key to my future success, but he’s also in my way.

So he can keep his smoldering looks and secret kisses. And he can be the one that figures out how to make it through service without getting distracted by me.

I’m not the problem. The problem is him.

The Problem With Him

Review: The Problem With Him

“He was everything I shouldn’t want, like, or notice. Not because of the tattoos. Or even because of the piercings he’d removed once he’d been promoted. He was the kind of guy I should have been able to ignore entirely because of how opposite we were, because of how much we hated each other.”

This enemies-to-lovers romance sizzles, as two chefs battle it out, their veiled attraction for each fuel to the flame.

After reading and loving the other books in the series, I was so excited to read Wyatt and Kaya’s story. After Killian left the restaurant Lilou, Kaya took the role of sous chef—second in command in Wyatt’s dominion. As head chef, it was up to Wyatt to control the kitchen, to take Lilou to the next level by making it his own—that meant barking orders and relentlessly driving the staff… especially Kaya.

Kaya’s goal was not to be second, more than anything she wanted to run a kitchen of her own. Worse yet, she hated her boss and her boss hated her. While Wyatt was attractive, tattoos and all, she wanted the job to be hers. She was there to do the best job possible, but not by making it easy for him.

As emotions flare high, however, something else sparks to life… something hidden and confusing, an attraction that had always been there. Suddenly, Wyatt and Kaya can’t keep their hands off each other, despite Kaya fearing it’s a huge mistake. Worse yet, an opportunity comes along that Kaya can’t pass up and one that could possibly shatter what’s begun to bloom between her and Wyatt.

While I very much enjoyed the book, I felt the narrative was heavy on internal discourse and I found myself craving more interaction and dialogue. It would have given us more moments to savor as Wyatt and Kaya came together, and perhaps further explored Wyatt’s poignant upbringing and persona.

Nonetheless, this is a fun, quick-paced novel that comes to life in the fascinating culinary world, and for those of you who love enemies-to-lovers, this will definitely fit the bill.
