5 Ways To Refresh Your Space Right Now

5 Ways To Refresh Your Space Right Now

Refreshing any living space can be fun, and give you that renewed energy and inspiration you need at home. It can also be easy—and fast. So here are five fast tips on giving a room a mini makeover!

Before I start, though, one overall suggestion is to consider keeping your overall palette neutral so that you can have a little bit more fun with pattern and color when you’re refreshing your space. My walls are a light gray, my curtains are a grayish-oatmeal color, my rug is neutral as are my furniture pieces. That give me the freedom to update the room as I transition through seasons and holidays with any color and style I want.

Swap Out Pillows + Throw Blankets.

Easiest thing in the world. If you follow me on Instagram, you know how deep and true my obsession for pillows goes. So I do this A LOT. Changing out pillows and casual throws will allow you to insert fun textures and colors into a room. Texture really is important, so try and vary up your choices. Notice I also have a combo of carefully folded, tailored throws and a casually strewn blanket to give the space a lived in feel.

Change Your Art.

I have one major art piece in my living room and I have two other options that I switch out throughout the year. You can find great deals on canvas art on GREAT BIG CANVAS, or I shop at Marshalls and Home Goods often—you can find great pieces there. I also have smaller prints I switch out and move around. I’ve been recently obsessed with CHRISTIE ADELLE prints and am searching for some new Fall pieces for my gallery wall! Check out Etsy too. I’ve found great print-at-home options there.

Get New Plants and Florals.

When putting together vignettes (small groupings of accessories), I always have a big vase with some type of floral. Right now, I have these great big banana leaves for summer, I typically switch out for some warmer florals for Fall and for the holidays, I use lit branches mixed in with pine cone twigs. You can also bring it and rotate out fresh plotted pants or succulents (I used lots of succulents this Spring).

Switch Out Accessories.

This is sort of the etcetera of the piece, and again, so easy to do. Look around your room. Do you have spots where you have a vignette of accessories? (Or do you need to group some items to add visual interest? — TO DO!) Well, take those accessories and switch them up. I’ll be putting away my corals soon and begin adding fall leaves and pine cones. I have small vases and decorative boxes that will be changed out for different textures and colors. My white tray will be replaced by a large, rustic wooden tray.

Updating a bar cart is another way to give a space a fresh look. Change out wine glasses, sparkling waters (even the colors of the cans can contribute to the room) and decorative items atop it.

All easy stuff which results in big changes.

Move Things Around.

Re-position your chairs. Change out your coffee table decor for something completely different. Move your ottomans and side tables around. This is a no-spend, no-fuss option for instant updates.

Shop These Looks.
