When her mother’s incessant matchmaking hits an all-time high, Georgie Archibald does what any sensible woman would do: she flees the country.
Seeking refuge in the picturesque seaside village of Vernazza, Italy, Georgie’s only plan is to lie low, gorge herself on gelato, and let the wine and waves wash her troubles away…that is until she wakes up in a bed that belongs to the most romantic-looking man she’s ever seen.
Gianluca.
After going out of his way to rescue her, the former London financier turned mysterious recluse makes it clear that despite acting as her white knight, he has no plans to co-star in her fairytale.
But Georgie isn’t asking for his heart—she’s merely intrigued.
After all, Gianluca isn’t just gorgeous—tall and tan from days spent in the sun—his touch sets her world on fire. With him, Georgie experiences the most intoxicating passion she’s ever known, and it only takes a few steamy nights for her to realize that sometimes running away from trouble is the best way to find it.
Sun and sand, adventure and passion, loss and love—A Place In The Sun delivers it all as we roam through the cobblestone streets of Vernazza, Italy—one of the five coastal villages which make up the Cinque Terre region of the Italian Riviera.
Georgie Archibald, who some of us have met before, decides to escape her mother’s incessant meddling and grab fate in her hands in hopes of finding true love, or at the very least, enjoy a holiday full of gelato, wine and amazing food.
“…why on Earth are you in Italy?”
“To find love, of course.”
It’s in this rugged fishing town, however, that she meets the reclusive and brooding Gianluca. He’s the most gorgeous man she’s even seen and there’s something about him that sparks fire to burn in every part of her.
“He was romantic looking, the sort of man who breathes passion into life without even trying.”
The trouble is Gianluca wants nothing to do with Georgie—or any other woman for that matter.
As Georgie makes friends and surprisingly settles into a sun-kissed life in Vernazza, her thoughts never stray far from Gianluca. And when she realizes the truth behind his ornery demeanor, she becomes intent on rattling him to the core.
For Gianluca, a life without love seems certain, but meeting the spirited Georgie awakens something he thought was forever dormant. She’s managed to barrel past all his defenses in a way he swore was never possible.
Their tryst was supposed to be temporary, but sometimes fate has other plans and love finds a way amidst loss and hopelessness, especially in a place as charmed as Vernazza.
“It felt like we were starved for each other, like I’d gone years abstaining from men like Gianluca, and now that he was there, holding me, touching me, kissing me passionately, my body didn’t know how to respond. I wanted more.”
I loved this book intensely. There was something so special about it from the very beginning. Something magical and irresistible and entirely consuming. I swooned and smiled, relishing in a slow-burn romance that insisted on its happy ever after. Moving moments anchored Grey’s trademark levity and every aspect of the novel just worked together beautifully. This is the best I’ve seen from R.S. Grey and one you shouldn’t miss.
