It’s My Blog’s First Birthday!

Wow. ONE. WHOLE. YEAR. 230 books read. 335 posts. New friendships. New followers. No sleep. And a fueled addiction to the written word. This all started with a simple excel sheet where I listed books I read, characters and general thoughts. The excel sheet kept getting passed around and emailed to friends of friends of friends and before too long, those friends encouraged me to blog about books. I had no idea what to do. Didn’t know a single soul in this community. Didn’t even like an author page online (gasp!).

I can honestly say it’s been a ton of work, especially with a full-time job in the corporate world. But thankfully my children and my husband have been wonderful despite my chronically divided attention. I can also honestly say it’s been an absolute blast. I am actually a pretty introverted person, losing myself in books and in writing for as long as I can recall, and to be able to be a part of a community that has welcomed me so warmly, in person and across the screen in a virtual world, well … I feel truly blessed. I never thought anyone would like my little page aside from my closest friends and family. Never thought anyone would pay any mind to which books I was reading or what my thoughts were. Never dreamed of hitting 10,000 likes on my Facebook page. Never thought I would call some of my favorite authors, friends. Never thought I would make such good friends I’ve yet to meet in person.

So today, on my blog’s first birthday I simply want to say THANKS.

Because sometimes, when it’s 2:00 a.m. and I need to finish a book, but I keep dropping it on my head because I’m just so tired and then suddenly I hear the familiar ding from a Facebook notification from one of you saying that you simply loved a book I recommended … well, that just makes my friggin’ day.
