Cocktail Recipe: Cranberry Margarita

Cocktail Recipe: Pomegranate Cranberry Margarita

This cranberry pomegranate margarita is a great cocktail as we transition into Fall. It has the freshness of a summer drink with the sweetness of cranberry, evocative of the upcoming holidays. This recipes makes about 4 to 6 margaritas.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups pomegranate cranberry juice (see below for options)
  • ¾ cup fresh lime juice (the juice of about 5 limes)
  • ¾ cup tequila
  • ½ cup orange liqueur like Triple Sec
  • Ice cubes
  • Margarita salt

Mix and enjoy!

NOTE: We first tried making this margarita with 100% cranberry juice (no sugar) and it was very tart. It was still yummy, but we doubled the Triple Sec so it wouldn’t be way too tart. We prefer the above recipe and the juice we used was the Old Orchard Cranberry Pomegranate juice (shown below). It was a good mix of tart and sweet, not overdoing it on either side of the spectrum. My point is this… if you love sweeter margaritas, use a juice with more sugar, if you prefer tart, pick up a no sugar, 100% juice.
