Vilma: Valerie… the cover is fantastic. Before we dish on the details, what prompted the cover change?
Valerie: Thank you so much Vilma for having me here today and for revealing the cover for Hollywood Witch Hunter once again! I think the cover is fantastic too and I’m just so happy with how it turned out!
So what prompted the cover change was Bloomsbury wanted to give Hollywood Witch Hunter a makeover for fall and pull in some more elements from the story. Let me just say, I will always love the first cover and it will forever have a special place in my heart, but I am absolutely thrilled with the outcome of this cover and I’m so excited to share it with everyone!
Vilma: Ok, so let’s talk details. What are some of your favorite elements?
Valerie: My editor Meredith Rich and book cover designer Jenny Zemanek came up with the concept, and boy did they do a fantastic job!
There are so many different elements I love about this cover. I really love the dagger and how it has some “smoke” behind it which represents the Bruma (aka magical witch fog) from Hollywood Witch Hunter.
I also love the background because it is reminiscent of snakeskin which represents the witches in the book who can use their spells to summon snakes.
Most importantly, I love that there is still a Latina on the cover and that it reflects the diversity in the book because that is what I am most proud of!
Vilma: So give us the scoop on what’s coming up next… we hear there may be an ebook sale?
Valerie: What’s coming up next for Hollywood Witch Hunter is the audiobook release on September 29th. I’m so excited for the audiobook because it is absolutely surreal to hear someone reading a story that I wrote! I don’t think it’s something I will ever get over and every time I hear it, I just get so giddy!
Also, starting October 1st, the fabulous Sasha Alsberg (aka abookutopia) and Regan (aka PeruseProject) will be doing a Hollywood Witch Hunter read-a-long on Sasha’s channel during the month of October (the witchiest month of the year)! It’s Hollywood Witch Hunter’s first read-a-long so I can’t wait!
In regards to the ebook sale, Bloomsbury just dropped the price to only $.99 for a limited time on Kindle, Nook, iBooks, and Kobo, and these retailers also have apps for people who don’t have e-readers to make it possible to read on your phone or computer if you want to join the read-a-long (or just love a good ebook sale, like I do).
Vilma: Sounds like the perfect time for readers to dig in! Thanks for talking with me again, Valerie!
Valerie: Thank you so much for having me again, Vilma! You are absolutely amazing 🙂
