Review: Elemental Mysteries Series by Elizabeth Hunter

My Thoughts

Intriguing, captivating, sexy, romantic and smart.
I loved every single book in this enthralling series! It’s one of the best PNR series I’ve ever read.

Synopsis

elemental mysteries

“No secret stays hidden forever. A phone call from an old friend sets mysterious book researcher Giovanni Vecchio back on the path of a mystery that has eluded him for centuries.  Little does he suspect a young librarian holds the key to an ancient secret, nor could he expect the danger Beatrice De Novo would attract.  Now both will follow a twisted maze leading from the archives of a university library, through the fires of Renaissance Florence, and toward a passion that could destroy them both.”
My Review

This was an unexpected surprise! It’s so exciting when you find a series you can’t put down!!! You search for these, you want to find something fabulous that you fall in love with and too often once is disappointed, but not with these books! A friend of mine recommended the book A Hidden Fire, through Facebook just a couple weeks ago. It was good timing, I had just finished reading the final book in Laury Falter’s Residue series (Prophecy) and needed something new. And the best part, A Hidden Fire was (AND STILL IS!) free on Amazon. I was incredibly surprised at how good this book was! I was captivated and it reminded me a lot of one of my top 2 books of last year, Deborah Harkness’ Discovery of Witches.

Of course I love the backdrop of libraries, books and ancient documents, as usual it appeals to my geeky side. Enter Giovanni Vecchio, hot, Italian historian with “startling blue-green eyes.”

“She heard his soft accent as he approached… He was wearing a pair of dark-rimmed glasses and a grey jacket that evening. His face was angular, handsome in a way that reminded her of one of the photographs in her art history textbook. His dark, curly hair and green eyes were set off by a pale complexion that seemed out of place with someone with a Mediterranean background. Beatrice decided that no one should be that good looking—especially if they were smart.”

Collective sigh. He’s the perfect man–strong, intelligent and deeply passionate. Beatrice De Novo is equally smart, curious, brave and unrelenting. I loved watching them fall in love. Their love is epic, passionate and never-ending.

“’I love you, Jacopo… Giovanni… whatever name you choose in a hundred years… or two hundred. I’ll love you then, too. Ubi amo, ibi patria. Where I love, there is my home. You… ‘ she blinked back tears and gave him a smile… ‘You are my home’. Giovanni was speechless, so he crushed her to his chest.  He held Beatrice for a few moments before pulling away so he could kiss her. He kissed her over and over again, nipping at soft, swollen lips as his heart pounded. ‘I love you,’ he whispered. ‘Per sempre, Forever.”

Their adventure is riddled with mystery and secret. It’s thrilling to read and once again, I could not put these books down! I actually devoured the entire series, reading one after the other with hardly a break.
There are 4 books that comprise the Elemental Mysteries series. All four books are out and available now.
Book Order:
There are also spin-off books based on the Elemental Mysteries series: Building From The AshesWaterlocked and Blood and Sand which comes out this July. Lastly, The Genius and The Muse, which I just read this week, is her standalone adult contemporary novel. Check out that review here.
