Facial Oil Roundup: My 8 Current Faves

I think I’m too old to be glowy. I just look oily most of the time! LOL But although I don’t seek out those facial oils with illuminating promises, I love how some make my skin look and feel. There are so many great products out there… so many that can work for a variety of skin types, whether you are oily or dry skinned.

Facial oils should generally be applied at the end of your skincare regimen as products are best applied from thinnest to thickest. If you use an oil before a water-based product like a moisturizer, the water-based product wouldn’t penetrate your skin as effectively.

Here are 8 of my faves:

ORIGINS NIGHT-A-MINS SKIN REFINING OIL has been one of my favorite finds in the past year. This plant-based brightening oil seems to eliminate dullness overnight while also rehydrating and refreshing skin. It smells amazing with aromas of Neroli Valerian and Vanilla. I just like the way my skin feels when I put it on at night, and in the morning, my face looks smoother and brighter.

$45 / 30 mL

DRUNK ELEPHANT VIRGIN MARULA OIL is the multi-tasking oil of your dreams. Fast absorbing and doesn’t sit on top of your skin, plus completely natural and fragrance free. It’s packed with antioxidants to help moisturize, nourish and rejuvenate skin. Helps with fine lines, wrinkles, redness and blotchiness. Cheaper alternative: THE ORDINARY COLD-PRESSED VIRGIN MARULA OIL.

$72 / 30 mL

VINTNER’S DAUGHTER SERUM (review) is a multi-correctional oil infused with nutrient-rich botanicals to renew, repair, protect and tone skin. It smells like heaven and my skin has been looking smoother, more even and healthy thanks to once, sometimes twice daily application. Although pricey, it really seems to deliver visible results.

$185 / 30 mL

KIEHL’S DAILY REVIVING CONCENTRATE is one of the few oils I reach for in the morning, especially when I don’t plan on putting on makeup. This lightweight oil uses a potent blend of botanicals to reawaken the skin, helping with dullness and uneven texture.

$47 / 30 mL

KIEHL’S MIDNIGHT RECOVERY CONCENTRATE: NIGHT-TIME HYDRATION is meant to work in partnership with the DAILY REVIVING CONCENTRATE. Whereas you use the latter in the morning, you use this one at night. This is one of the products I will never be without—I love it… it’s a good one to try if you’re new to oils and want to try one as part of your evening skincare routine. Formulated with naturally-derived lavender, evening primrose, and squalene, it delivers hydration, while helping smooth and brighten complexion.

$49 / 30 mL

MAD HIPPIE ANTIOXIDANT FACIAL OIL is one I loved from the very first use. This one also smells divine and is lightweight. Contains argan oil, pomegranate seed oil and a host of other antioxidants that help even and soothe skin tone, protect it from sun damage, and help reduce the effects of photoaging. It’s a good, inexpensive anti-aging, multi-tasking, preservative-free oil.

$20 / 30 mL

OLIVE & M FACE OIL is a great, moisturizer-replacement oil for me, and a great option for those of us with drier skin. Although it’s still fairly lightweight, it feels a little more substantial than some of the other ones above. Its formulation is plant based and rich in antioxidants, vitamins, omegas and amino acids. I’ll use this after really prepping my skin (including a hydrating serum), and use a few drops, pressing it into my skin. Smells awesome too. PS. Their CLEANSING OIL is my absolute #1 fave.

$68 / 60 mL

CAUDALIE OVERNIGHT DETOX OIL is one I reach for after traveling, or when I’m feeling (and my skin is looking) stressed. It delivers healing from things like pollution, sun exposure, lack of sleep, and yes, even stress. The formulation helps purify pores of toxins, so your skin looks and feels refreshed when you wake up. Use at night.

$50 / 30 mL

The next oil I want to try is the TATA HARPER RETINOIC NUTRIENT FACE OIL, which is a good one for anti-aging. Let me know in the comments if you’re tried it… or if you have another oil you swear by!
