2017 Fall Decor Trends

Planning your fall decor is so much fun because it’s such a wonderful, cozy time of year. Last week, I shared my own inspiration, and this week, I’m sharing big decor trends you’ll be noting in stores and in the magazines. Perhaps these will spark your imagination as you ready your house for cooler temps.

More Color

Out is the all-white everything look which has dominated Instagram design accounts for so long. We’ll be seeing more color incorporated into decor.  Rich browns and grays, warm caramel, deep greens and blush pinks and deep purples will be super on trend.

Texture

Adding more texture into a room doesn’t only add to the visual interest of the space, but it also allows you to experience it in a different way. Whether it’s luxurious velvet, woven accents or distressed wooden details, it’s all about mixing fabrics and material to achieve coziness and warmth. Try adding in a velvet chair or ottoman, a chunky blanket draped over a sleek leather chair, or throw in a richly textured basket next to your couch or fireplace.

Green

Green is the Pantone color of the year, so it’s no surprise we’re seeing it everywhere in decor. For fall, it’s that darker green, from warm olives to deep forest greens or even lush emeralds, it’s a beautiful way to infuse color into a space. Pair it with cream or brown, camel or grays, you’ll be set to warm up your space in time for cooler weather.

Blush

While you might think this is a color best off left in spring or summer, you’re wrong! The blush trend endures. Coupled with warm creams and grays, it’s ideal for fall. Throw some blush velvet pillows for that soft, textured look in your living room, or update your bedding during these cooler months, you’ll love this nearly neutral touch.

Brass

Against darker colors like navy, black and deep grays, this shiny accent will inject some glamour into your space. From brass-accented furniture (see this velvet chair or this accent stool, which I own) to lamps and light fixtures, the trick will be to not overdo it.
