To want what you’re not supposed to have…

She is only nineteen.

She is his new stepfather’s daughter.

She is still naïve and innocent due to spending the last three years taking care of her sick mother.

But for twenty-four year old Rush Finlay, she is the only thing that has ever been off limits. His famous father’s guilt money, his mother’s desperation to win his love, and his charm are the three reasons he has never been told no.

Blaire Wynn left her small farmhouse in Alabama, after her mother passed away, to move in with her father and his new wife in their sprawling beach house along the Florida gulf coast. She isn’t prepared for the lifestyle change and she knows she’ll never fit into this world. Then there is her sexy stepbrother who her father leaves her with for the summer while he runs off to Paris with his wife. Rush is as spoiled as he is gorgeous. He is also getting under her skin. She knows he is anything but good for her and that he’ll never be faithful to anyone. He is jaded and has secrets Blaire knows she may never uncover but even knowing all of that…

Blaire just may have fallen too far.

My Review

Absolutely hooked. This story gripped me from the first chapter and more than any other Abbi Glines book to date. After Blaire Wynn loses her twin sister in a car accident and five years later, loses her mother to cancer, she leaves Alabama to live with the only family she has left, her father. He had left Blaire and her mother after her sister died, and he had not been there for her when her mother was sick. Not even there at the funeral. No phone calls. No money.

So after losing everything, Blaire packs up in her beat-up truck and arrives to the Florida coast, to a huge house in the middle of a rocking party. And just minutes upon arrival, she’s pulled a gun on a guy and met her incredibly sexy, arrogant step-brother, Rush Finlay. With $20 in her pocket and an old truck without gas, she convinces her ornery step-brother to let her stay in his house…well, in a tiny broom closet under the stairs, until she can get a job of her own. She’s got a month.

But sigh and swoon… man-whore Rush Finlay is hot, sexy and covered in tattoos. He’s the son of a rock star with warm silver eyes that were “stunningly unusual.” And despite his physical perfection and what that does to her, he’s all wrong for Blaire.

“Blaire, I’m not a romantic guy. I don’t kiss and cuddle. It’s all about the sex for me. You deserve someone who kisses and cuddles. Not me. I just fuck, baby.“

But there’s something there that keeps them enticed. Both Blaire and Rush know they need to stay away from each other… for many reasons. Rush seems to be hiding big secrets that everyone but her seems to know.

“You don’t want to know me. You may think you do, but you don’t. I promise.”

As they continue the game of push and pull, Blaire can’t seem to stay unaffected.

“You want to know what happened? YOU happened Rush!”

Just as you think that it may work out, everything falls apart and things get crazy. And oh my God, the cliffhanger at the end. You’re left riveted. Luckily for me Never Too Far, book two, comes out in two days on February 26th and it can’t come soon enough!

I read this book in less than 6 hours. It’s a quick and intense, don’t-both-me-until-I’m-done read. A story of heartache, angsty romance and secrets. Everything you know you’ll love. Rush kind of reminds me of Travis Maddox from Jamie McGuire’s Beautiful Disaster. And Blaire is an innocent, but make-it-all-work kind of girl determined to survive despite the tragedy in her life.

This book is seriously addictive, the moment I picked it up and started reading it, I was immediately hooked and didn’t want to put it down anytime soon I loved it! As I was reading, I kept guessing what the secret was. This secret got me, I didn’t see that one coming. It had me intrigued, swooning, feeling all lovey dovey, and heartbroken at the end. Can’t wait to start Never Too Far
