Review: Fury (#3, Seven Deadly) by Fisher Amelie

My  Thoughts

Boldly evocative and gritty.
This is a book that bleeds emotion from beginning to end.

Synopsis

fury coverRevenge is an euphoric thing. Trust me on this. Nothing compares to the release you get when you ruin someone’s life. When they’ve stolen important things. Things that didn’t belong to them. Things I revel in making them pay for.

What? Have I offended you? I’m not here to appeal to your delicate senses. I have no intention of placating your wishes or living within your personal belief system nor do I care if you hate me. And you will hate me. Because I’m a brutal, savage, cold-blooded murderer and I’m here for my revenge.

I’m Ethan Moonsong…And this is the story about how I went from the world’s most sacrificing man to the most feared and why I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

My Review

“Anger is a consuming thing, a burning takeover.”

Fisher Amelie is back with the third installment in the Seven Deadly series. The story bleeds emotion—heartbreak and longing, fury and sadness,  love and selflessness. It’s Ethan’s story. A story of atonement and redemption, of both letting go and holding on to a love unexpected, but one more beautiful and perfect than imagined. I really felt the collision of raging emotions. There was this sense that at any moment the anger, hurt and pain that roared beneath Ethan’s surface would burst free, unleashing a set of actions that couldn’t be taken back.

We met Ethan in Greed. He was the man Cricket didn’t choose when she followed her heart into Spencer’s arms. He was left behind, abandoned by the girl he loved his entire life.

“The fury raging in my blood was more than I could contain.”

So Ethan vowed revenge. Vowed to break the happiness meant for him. In the process of his fury, however, Ethan is confronted with his past, embodied by a disconcerting girl named Finley.

Finley is strong. Brave. A friend when he had none. She sees Ethan in a way he’s forgotten. In a way that has been lost to his vengeful emotions. Ethan never expected Finley to be able to cut through all that mess and pain.

“Life isn’t fair. Life is far, very, very far from fair. Sometimes it slaps you so hard in the face you fall back, you hit the ground with a resounding thuds, knocks the breath outta you, but it’s how quickly you stand and fight for the life you want and how you forget that new path that defines you.”

And as a friendship takes flight, Ethan must face his own self, his heart, his intentions, his internal makeup, to understand the man he is. But the more he’s with Finley, and the louder the clock ticks by, he realizes there is so much more to him, to her, to them.

“You understand me more than anyone ever could, Ethan. Like we share the same sort of insides. As if we’re knitted from the same thread.”

Their story is one of letting go. Of finding what’s right when everything seems wrong. Of finding a cause, a home, when one seems lost. Fisher Amelie has a way of imbuing reality into her stories in a way that is gut wrenching, but meaningful. There is so much more to this story, but these are parts that shouldn’t be spoiled for readers. I’ll just say that it’s a story that commands attention and evokes a visceral response. If you’re already a fan of the first two books, this will live up to all of your expectations. If you’re new to the series, you’re in for quite the experience, feels and all.
