Mesmerizing, fast-paced and addictive.
A must-read series for thriller lovers!
Detective Helen Grace gets caught in an inferno of death and destruction in the red-hot new thriller from the author of Eeny Meeny, Pop Goes the Weasel, and The Doll’s House…
Detective Helen Grace has never seen such destruction. Six fires in twenty-four hours. Two people dead. Several more injured. It’s as if someone wants to burn the city to the ground…
With the whole town on high alert, Helen and her team must sift through the rubble to find the arsonist, someone whose thirst for fire—and control—is reducing entire lives to ash.
One misstep could mean Helen’s career—and more lives lost. And as the pressure mounts and more buildings burn, Helen’s own dark impulses threaten to consume her…
I have found my new obsession with the Helen Grace series by M.J. Arlidge. Fast paced and exiting with adrenaline-charged plots, these ‘whodunit’ books are as addictive as they come. Best yet, the narratives unravel through the sharp detective work of Helen Grace—a flawed, intelligent and caring heroine who relentlessly works to be one step ahead of her perpetrators. Arlidge has penned a series that is both thrilling and evocative, a perfect combination of crime drama suspense and gut-wrenching human stories.
In Liar Liar (the fourth book in the series), Southampton has become a living inferno with multiple fires scorching properties every night, claiming the lives of innocent people. Someone is choosing the homes, the families… but why?
Helen and her team race to find the arsonist as more fires shatter lives and the pressure from all sides escalate. They struggle to find a common thread as the fires rage on.
In addition, Helen’s support system begins to crumble, and once again her job is at stake, as well as relationships who get caught up in the storm around her.
As with every installment, there’s always more than what we see, with all-too real struggles fueling the destruction of our arsonist. I love Helen, love Charlie, love how the process twists and untangles simultaneously. Helen also gets a new boss, DS Jonathan Gardam, and he seems supportive and straightforward, but is he truly or is he after more than he leads on?
I’m such an avid fan of these books, and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, Little Boy Blue!
