LOVE THAT TRY THIS BANNER

Sometimes we’re all looking for a book similar to another one we’ve loved, and although all these stories are inherently different from one another, they all have aspects that are the same… whether they capture the same feeling, or draw out similar emotions, or feature characters in similar situations. Check out this list and I hope you find some new books to try… I’ll keep adding to it over time. Make sure to visit my full list of recommendations by category as well!

Epic. Epic. Epic. These two books are EPIC. Epic adventure. Epic heartache. Epic love. Many have read Outlander, but to me, there’s nothing quite as beautiful as The Bronze Horseman trilogy. It’s my absolute favorite series… a beautiful timeless story of a love that fought hard to conquer so much. Not just problems of the heart, but hunger, war, separation. These books are historical romance novels that take place during WWII, starting in Leningrad. The writing is stunning, lyrical and the story is entirely unforgettable.

Both of these books have a celebrity element, with our protagonists being movie stars who fall in love unexpectedly. Both are wonderfully romantic, well written and completely entrancing.

If you’re looking for a laughs, love and angst, both these novels fit the bill. Once again, our male protagonist boasts stardom in these books. While the stories vary, they both manage to balance humor, emotion and romance in a way that makes these so enjoyable to read.

Passion. Intensity. Seductiveness. If you’re looking for sexy alphas with a past rife with secrets and turmoil, and a love story that burns up the pages, these are wonderful books to devour, along with the one, which of course set the pace… Fifty Shades of Grey.

Romance, romance, romance. There’s something incredibly satisfying about reading a book where it’s simply a beautiful love story. I absolutely loved these two books, which focused on the characters and how they fell in love. Nowhere But Here is a standalone, and I Only Have Eyes For You is part of the Sullivan series, but can be read as a standalone book. Click here for series reading order.

Talk about favorites. These two books consumed me. Owned me. Destroyed me. They made me cry and they slowly rebuilt me to a place that I never wanted the books to finish. These are epic love stories… emotional powerhouses… unforgettable. Both are second chance romances that center around a couple that go through soooo much before they get to their happily ever after. Don’t Let Go is a standalone book, while Take this Regret is the first full length novel of the Regret series.

In what may be my favorite genre of all, YA paranormal, these two series are both ones that completely had me obsessed. Certainly if you’ve read the Fallen series, you will have likely also read the Hush, Hush series, but the Embrace series (or Violet Eden Chronicles) is a new set of books I recently gushed over. Both have to do with a girl discovering her own power and navigating the already difficult teenage years with incredible responsibility and pressure.

Branded-Cover

Action. Adventure. Love. These dystopian books keep you on the edge of your seats! They both impart a story full of twists and turns, ups and downs, sadness and happiness. Branded, like Divergent, immerses us in a post apocalyptic world full of strict rules everyone must adhere to. Branded, however, features a romance that is so forbidden, that the flourishing of love between our two characters had me biting my nails nervously. There is so much action, so many ups and downs, that my pulse raced and heart pounded fiercely from the first page to the last.

Both of these books are in a class by themselves. Both redefine the dystopian genre most creatively.  The Shatter Me series is incredibly well written in a style singular to author Tahereh Mafi. And the Arcana Chronicles are totally unique, centering around the Tarot deck. Kresley Cole’s writing is completely solid, fluid and exciting with characters that are anything but typical. The Arcana Chronicles are one of my favorite finds this year, and the next book is one of my most anticipated books. Both series feature a love triangle that had me flipping sides from one page to the next with suspense, romance, hardships and the supernatural coming into play as a riveting adventure ensues.

These two series center around anti-heroes… men who straddle the line between good and bad, and most of the time, are more bad than good, but they are men who love deeply and remain loyal and steadfast. Sexy, suspenseful and entirely addictive, I love these two series so much. Each of the books in either series can be read as standalones.

Another duo that top my list of favorites. I love everything by Colleen Hoover. I love everything by Amy Harmon. Both of these books draw emotion from the reader expertly, in their own unique way. Both of them have male protagonists that are teachers. Both are beautiful and unforgettable. A Different Blue is a standalone, while Slammed is the first book in the self-titled series.

If you’re looking for love while on an epic, life-changing adventure, these two books deliver… big time! I love both these stories dearly. They pack all the feels while telling a story filled with pain, hurt and loss. It’s about finding love on the run, while on a journey of self-discovery.

If you’re looking for a heart-wrenching tale of love and loss, transformation and hope, these two books will own you as you devour these emotional stories that show how love can sometimes be the most powerful thing when it comes to healing and moving beyond a tumultuous past. Both are standalone books.

These two books are different in many ways, but they both center around greek mythology. I adore both and they’ve been able to achieve an enticing balance of action, emotion, romance and adventure. The Deep End of the Sea is a standalone book, while Half-Blood is the first full-length novel of the Covenant series.

Okay, I know you are thinking… well, duh!!! But with as many people as have loved Falling Into You, there are still so many out there that have yet to fall in love with this follow-up novel. It has all the gut-wrenching emotional gravity… the epic romance… the unforgettable music that gives these books an extra something special.

Get reading to start guessing. These thrillers keep you in a state of constant suspense as you try to decipher what happens in the story. These two novels are not only favorites, but they are books with a message that lingers long beyond the flip of the last page. They are romances, but they are much more than that too. They are stories of transformation and growth, love and healing… and they are beautiful pieces of work.

If you’re looking for a story with equal parts suspense and sexiness, these are the books to pick up. I don’t know whether I was drawn more to the story, the seductiveness or the suspense. Secrets swirl as you fall in love with the enigmatic characters and you won’t be able to put these down for one hot second. Black Lies is a standalone, while The Wild Side is the first installment in a serial.

These two are both fantasy/YA novels. Expect to embark on an epic adventure where danger lurks around every corner, death is constantly nearing and a girl must shoulder unbearable responsibilities. She must discover who she really is, summon her inner strengths and be an unlikely ruler. In both series, our heroine isn’t typical. She’s not heralded for her beauty. She’s not naturally brave. She’s not even well respected. But with blood, sweat and tears, they rise to the challenge fantastically. Gripping, consuming and addictive. These are wonderful books!

I’ve read both Knight and Better When He’s Bad. I did not like Knight much but I enjoyed the latter. Knight was way too overbearing and controlling for my tastes. I just recently bought The Girl of Fire and Thorns, so I’m looking forward to it. Romantic suspense is one of my favourite genres, so I’ll be checking out those recs for sure.
I read Jasinda Wilder’s Stripped and did not like it at all. so I’m not sure if I want to read any more of her works.
    Great post! 🙂
