My Thoughts

It was the sexiest slow burn ever, exciting and fun to read.
I was immediately addicted and didn’t stop reading
until I’d devoured the whole thing.

Synopsis

manwhore coverIs it possible to expose Chicago’s hottest player–without getting played?

This is the story I’ve been waiting for all my life, and its name is Malcolm Kyle Preston Logan Saint. Don’t be fooled by that last name though. There’s nothing holy about the man except the hell his parties raise. The hottest entrepreneur Chicago has ever known, he’s a man’s man with too much money to spend and too many women vying for his attention.

Mysterious. Privileged. Legendary. His entire life he’s been surrounded by the press as they dig for tidbits to see if his fairytale life is for real or all mirrors and social media lies. Since he hit the scene, his secrets have been his and his alone to keep. And that’s where I come in.

Assigned to investigate Saint and reveal his elusive personality, I’m determined to make him the story that will change my career.

But I never imagined he would change my life. Bit by bit, I start to wonder if I’m the one discovering him…or if he’s uncovering me.

What happens when the man they call Saint, makes you want to sin?

My Review

Talk about addictive. This book consumed me from the very beginning to its pulse-pounding end. I read it one sitting, completely enraptured by the enigmatic bad boy billionaire and the reporter determined to get the perfect story that would launch the career she’s always dreamed of. Katy Evans has this amazing ability to draw you in to her stories, get you hooked and keep you wanting more. Manwhore was a delicious slow burn and not over-the-top erotic romance like I had honestly thought. The story is intriguing, compelling and seductive, and I couldn’t wait to see what happened when Rachel’s truth would be revealed. While a few early scenes felt reminiscent of Fifty Shades of Grey, the story really does take its own turn and has a different feel altogether after it gathers momentum. This is the story of two unlikely people finding a connection with each other… a connection that’s physical and unquenchable, and an emotional one that surprises them both.

“Ruthless, they say. A complete manwhore, they say. And so ambitious he’d put Midas to shame. Oh yeah. They say Saint won’t rest until he owns the world.”

Malcolm Saint was the most famous bachelor in Chicago. He was a playboy. He was a billionaire. He was a power to be reckoned with. And he was an enigma. Saint was highly visible, but intensely private too. No one knew what really made him tick. No one knew why he did the things he did. He didn’t do interviews. He didn’t divulge secrets.

But Rachel Livingston was given the chance of a lifetime by her boss. She need to get the story behind the man. This was her chance to save their failing magazine (Edge) and her chance to write a feature story. She needed to get in there, entice the man who had women falling at his feet, and learn every intimate thing she could.

The start is rocky. Embarrassing. Non-productive. But soon enough, Rachel finds herself spending more and more time with Saint and it’s the man—her story—that seems to uncover her. Unsettle her. He’s getting to her and she’s losing herself with every moment she spends with him. He’s every temptation she thought she could resist.

“This is Malcolm Saint—my dream story and the salvation of Edge—and I should’ve pushed him away.”

I loved the power that Saint radiated. The control. He wasn’t overbearing… an over-the-top alpha. He was confident, but he also had a tender, vulnerable side I was drawn to. I also loved Rachel. She was your regular girl, but she wasn’t too naive. She was strong, had conviction, but also had a heart… and it was her heart, her feelings, she struggled with. The story began to lose its luster in the face of desire. Their time together was charged. On fire. It made me devour the pages, especially as the truth threatened to be revealed, the more time they spent together.

“I’m playing with fire, putting my heart right on the train track for it to be squished soon. But not the threat of being burned or the oncoming train can stop me.”

I hope we learn more about each character, about what makes each of them tick, and I hope we see more of the angst we saw in this first book. That being said, I need the next book yesterday. The end killed me in the best possible way and I’m dying for the continuation of their story. Could trust be re-established when one person has been deceptive and the other person has a history defined by women and secrets? Could a playboy really change his ways?

If you’re looking for a book that’s just fun, super addictive and sexy as hell, this is the book to pick up right now.
