The perfect combination of romance, sizzle and suspense.

Synopsis

moonshot torreBaseball wasn’t supposed to be a game of life and death…

The summer that Chase Stern entered my life, I was seventeen. The daughter of a legend, the Yankees were my family, their stadium my home, their dugout my workplace. My focus was on the game. Chase … he started out as a distraction. A distraction with sex appeal poured into every inch of his six foot frame. A distraction who played like a god and partied like a devil.

I tried to stay away. I couldn’t.

Then, the team started losing.
Women started dying.

And everything in my perfect world broke apart.

My Review

With Moonshot, Alessandra Torre delivers a compelling and addictive mix of romance, sexiness and suspense. It’s a passionate love story and a murder mystery which unravels in the high-stakes world of major league baseball—where someone is always watching and the line between stardom and downfall is separated by a single bad decision.  This combination of elements manipulated by Torre’s deft hand makes this novel stand out from the many releases we see, making it a perfect summer must-read.

“Love has its own timeline, Tyler. Remember that.”

Tyler Rollins was the daughter of a Yankee legend, who grew up among the guys, a life in the dugout, the familiar scent of grass and dirt creating a one-of-a-kind magic she relished. From city to city, stadium to stadium, this is the life she loved. The game was everything.

At seventeen, she met baseball’s newest star, Chase Stern. He was everything the Yankees needed, and everything she’d been told to stay away from. He was a storm of conflict and danger, a definite distraction she didn’t need. Their connection was immediate and unstoppable.

“The kiss should have never happened. If my father found out, if anyone did, it would be disastrous. Together, we would only bring chaos.”

Their relationship ignited in the dark, in secret, in defiance of promises made to stay away. It was passion and love with turbulent turns and truths that should have been a warning, but to them, it felt right… once-in-a-lifetime right.

“She shouldn’t trust him. He should have the strength to stay away. There was no way any of this would end well.”

But then everything fell apart. One night delineating a before and after to her life. Everything good splintered, the team started losing and every year, a new girl would die. Blood was staining the legacy she’d devoted her life to and without a win, the deaths wouldn’t stop.

“I needed the curse to stop. I needed a year to pass without blood marring our pinstripes. I needed a World Series win.”

To make complicated matters more complicated, love and passion duel betrayal and responsibility, and Chase is once again the center of a storm she may not survive. Especially when Ty finds herself staring death in the face.

“There was right, and there was wrong, and there was love. And love trumped it all.”

So much happens in the story and I don’t want to divulge any more. I loved the way the story unwound, the format of short, impactful chapters, the love story that was both so right and wrong, the suspense behind the ‘whodunit’ aspect. Alessandra Torre is a fantastic, versatile writer and this latest novel once again proves her prowess. There are so many unforeseen twists that make it such an exciting read. I loved it and hope you will too!
