Review: Moti On The Water - Vilma Iris | Lifestyle Blogger

A Greek family. An Indian family. A summer wedding on the Aegean coast…

Meet Moti Ferreira—spectacularly jinxed from the day she’s born.

Saddled with an eccentric mother, she stumbles upon the one man who holds the key to her freedom—the best man at her cousin’s upcoming wedding.

All Moti has to do is overcome her fear of water, board a yacht to the Greek Isles, seduce the dreamy Nikos Manolas, and survive two weeks at sea with her oddball family.

The only obstacle Moti doesn’t see coming is Alexandros Veronis, the onboard chef and star witness to her awkward mishaps. He transforms onions into chocolate and aroma into nostalgia. Day by day, his alchemy works its magic on Moti. But she’s not the only one falling under his spell. Everyone has a secret, growing round and ripe at Chef Alex’s table. When the masks fall off, they spill out one by one, and everything blows up in their faces.

Now Moti’s truth is exposed, and worse, she’s hooked on more than Alex’s midnight snacks. But this time, screwing up could be the best thing she’s ever done…

Moti On The Water
By Leylah Attar

Review: Moti On The Water

With MOTI ON THE WATER, Leylah Attar delivers pure delight—a stirring story of love, courage and authenticity. It’s magic set to sun and sea, passion flaring through food and desire. I loved this book so much for everything it evoked. There was a stripped-down beauty to it that made it something truly special.

Attar is such a gifted storyteller, easily transporting us to the cerulean waters of the Aegean Coast, where our story begins to take shape.

We meet Moti Ferreira, who boards a yacht after her cousin’s wedding and meets the three-thumbed man fated to be her soulmate. Moti’s life was jinxed from the very beginning with a birth chart that defined her destiny. To make matters worse, she was forever trying—and failing—to please her eccentric mother. Even now when face-to-face with the man who was to be her soulmate, nothing goes to plan. Not that she believed in soulmates, anyway.

“I never bought into the idea of soul mates. The notion that the universe owed me this one perfect person who fit me completely, loved me unconditionally, gave me toe-curling orgasms, retained his hair, teeth and erections, and put up with my shit through every single phase of life, was a huge burden to put on anyone. Hell, I’d run the other way if someone expected all of that from me.”

Turns out this man isn’t who she expected, her family is fighting, and there’s an enigmatic chef that seems to bear witness to the chaos, stirring up his own kind of magic with food. Amidst the mayhem, however, Moti finds the courage within herself to conquer her fear of water, embrace her true self, and open her heart to the unexpected.

MOTI ON THE WATER has it all—humor, romance, charm, emotion and an irresistible mystique. It’s a story about taking hold of your destiny, redefining it, and then leaping into it heart and soul. Attar brilliantly sweeps you away with this glittering gem, easily one of my favorite reads of the year.

“When you’ve been looked over your whole life, it’s startling to find yourself in someone’s eyes, to be held in their vision, the same way they hold sunsets and beautiful things.”

“Jump,” he said.

“I closed my eyes and jumped.”
