Witty, engaging and sexy with great characters that had me laughing and smiling throughout the entire story!
Maci Price isn’t really into relationships. Having four very protective older brothers has always made having a boyfriend very difficult, anyway. But her friend is set on finding her the perfect guy – and thinks the mysterious Connor Green is the perfect pick.
He’s Her Brother’s Best Friend
Connor Green is trying to find himself again. He loved then lost and it’s time for him to pick up the pieces. His brooding is making his friends crazy, but, Maci Price, who has grown up into a gorgeous and incredibly sexy woman, is about to break the spell.
They’re Made for Each Other
When Maci starts up old pranks to get Connor out of his slump, an all out war leads to a night that will break all their rules, and a relationship they must keep hidden. Together they’re electric. Apart they’re safe. And soon they’ll find they’re exactly what the other needs. A fabulous, fun, and sexy, New Adult novella from New York Times bestselling author Molly McAdams. If you loved Connor in From Ashes, this is the story for you.
What a fun, sexy, angsty experience! Needing Her is so much more than a novella. At over 300 pages, the story felt developed with ample opportunity to get to know the characters and follow them on their very witty, very angsty and very captivating tale of will they or won’t they. The story is super sexy, defined by that push and pull between our two protagonists that keep us wanting more. The novella unfurls through alternating POVs, giving us that much needed insight into their troubled thoughts. I loved the banter, the pranks, the heart and the longing in the story… it was a wonderful, feel-good experience from beginning to end.
Our female protagonist, Maci Price, has been in a sorta-kinda relationship… but one that is hardly fulfilling (in more ways than one), particularly since the guy, Bryce, expects her to change to fit into his fancy schmancy world. Maci is fiery and full of personality. With bright red hair, a piercing in her nose, a wild sense of humor and a vernacular bursting with curse words, she’s anything but your typical girl. With four over-protective brothers who shadow her every move and promise to end the life of whichever male comes within a mile of her, she hasn’t been able to find the happily ever after she finds herself craving.
She can’t deny her attraction, however, to her hunky detective neighbor, who also happens to be her brothers’ best friend. Conner Green, who many of you met in From Ashes, is back and lives next door to Maci. Conner and Maci go way back, but for the past several months, coming back from Texas, he hasn’t been the same. He’s an empty shell of his former self, bereft of any life, any spirit. He’s stuck in his memories of what happened with Cassidy and he can’t seem to get past it.
But suddenly Maci and Conner find themselves awakening something deeper in the other and it all start with pranks. Yup, you heard me right… pranks. I’m talking big-time antics that had me grinning widely. I loved it! They are both tenacious, hot-blooded and fiery. They bicker. They fight. They laugh. All the while desire crackles between them, but they initially hold back as they each battle their inner demons and well, their four burly brothers are a frightening thought on any day too. But that desire finally ignites and soon they find they just can’t stay away from each other. It quickly goes beyond a want, to an irrepressible need.
I thought Maci was a particularly interesting character. For as fierce as she is, she’s pretty fragile on the inside. Her confidence falters, too used to be asked to change… being asked to grow up. Would she ever be enough for anyone? And would someone ever accept her for who she is? When she finds Connor’s attentions intently directed at her, she can’t help but let those doubts consume her and before too long she goes into self-preservation mode despite the happiness that invades her heart.
Their budding relationship is riddled with complications. Connor’s secretive past. Maci’s doubts. Connor’s vacillating demeanor. Maci’s brothers. It all seems like too much for Maci, despite the undeniable fact that she’s fallen for him.
The story is a constant push and pull. It’s sweet. It’s funny. It’s angsty. It’s super sexy. Loved both Connor and Maci and really reveled in those moments where they could just be themselves, finally finding acceptance and love in the arms of one another. Overall, I really enjoyed it and it was great to get back to reading another Molly McAdams book singularized with that boldness and wit that always keep me engaged throughout.
