How To Build A Nerf Wall

Luca, my 8-year-old son, is obsessed with NERF guns. And a bazillion of them is apparently not enough! 😉 My issue with them—other than the constant bratatatat—is storing them. They are big and cumbersome and there’s a lot of them. After seeing one on YouTube, he’s been asking me for a NERF wall for some time, but something about a wall of neon clashed with my decor sensibilities as you can imagine! Finally, however, when the storage issue got dire, I relented and am surprisingly happy with the result! What’s above is a small sampling of everything he owns, but he of course LOVES the wall and can’t wait to add more to his collection (which he actually reviews on his YouTube channel! Like mother like son!)

So here’s how I built the wall o’ NERF, for less than $50.

What You Need

  • Peg board (cut to size at any Home Depot or Lowes)
  • Metal anchors and screws
  • Washers
  • Nylon spacers (about 1/2 inch)
  • Peg board hooks and baskets (you won’t know how many you need, so I advise you to overbuy and then return what you don’t use)

Directions

  • Figure out what size of peg board you want, and have them cut it to size at your local hardware store.
  • Mount the peg board on each corner with metal anchors, screws, washers and spacers. I also used one in the middle. You need the space between the board and the wall to push through your hooks.

  • Lay out your pegs and baskets according to your desired configuration and load up all your guns! Your kiddos will think you are the best momma in the world!

If you give this a go, make sure to tag me in your photos! One last thing… here’s how I store bullets. I use these clear, easily accessible containers to separate out the various types of bullets.
