Sexy, captivating and original.
It made my heart hurt, swoon and jump with everything that happens in this addictive sequel. The series keeps getting better!
Anna Whitt, the daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a vow. She’d been naive about a lot of things.
Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.
When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

It had been too long!!! I was dying to get my hands on this book and once I did, it did not disappoint. I really can’t get over how original and fresh this story line is. I love the sons/daughters of the Dukes of Hell concept. But the first part of the book is so heartbreaking! When Sweet Evil ended, we realize Anna and Kai can’t be together. It’s dangerous and could literally end both of their lives. My heart painfully ached for Anna and Kai. I was taken back to my own heart breaks, the despondency of being “broken up” with the person you love more than anything. The pain is palpable, it made my heart hurt for them. And then there are moments where Kai is so cruel to Anna, that I can barely stand it.
*angrily wipes tears*
Damn you, Kaiden Rowe! Damn you for being incredibly sexy! And incredibly stubborn! And incredibly mean! Even though you’re doing it out of complete love and devotion.
Meanwhile, Anna “works” hard… partying it up, making a name for herself among party circuit. She starts to feel out of control, the goodness in her trying to reign in the drug-wanting, out-of-control girl she feels she’s becoming.
Without giving you the spoiler, Anna learns that she will need to help change the future for other Nephs like her. Kopano and Anna also spend more time together, and as the rift between Anna and Kai widens, a tension of desire fills the space.
So let’s talk about Kope. I am Team Kai all the way. Really, I love him. LOVE. BUT… as we established, I felt so heartbroken for Anna, and Kopano is just so kind and deep and authentic… I found myself thinking… why not, Kope? Screw Kaidan…
Wait, what?
Yea, this has NEVER happened in a book to me. I have never wavered from book boyfriend #1… but Wendy did such a good job developing the character of Kopano that I felt that maybe it would be good to see them together.
The Kai and Anna moments are even more seductive and sexy in this book!!! They still feel reluctance and fear and anger for mistakes made on both sides. But both Anna and Kai are done with being apart… barely surviving only to be safe. The love they feel for each other made my heart swell with happiness… *SWOON*
So how does it end? On a precipice. I don’t want to tell you too much, but Sweet Reckoning will be action-packed I’m sure of it. The story line is set up to build into a showdown… a major culmination between the Nephs and the Dukes. The bad news… we’ll have to wait until 2014 to see what happens!!! In the meanwhile, I definitely recommend you pick up these two books! You won’t want to put them down! They are just that awesome! Solid writing, vivid characters, steamy and angsty moments and the extra magical something that paranormal novels give to keep you riveted to the page! I can’t wait to see what happens next!
