My Review

Alice Clayton and Nina Bocci combine talents to deliver a warm-hearted romance which heats up the cobblestone streets of Rome. It’s a tender story of friendship, second chances and living the life you love. You’ll devour the pages of this love story fast, as you fall in love with Marcello and Avery.

We first meet Avery Bardot, shortly after finding her husband in a compromising situation with his secretary.

I know that penis, I’m married to that penis, except… this penis is, in fact, doing something it really shouldn’t.

Feeling all kinds of done with her lying, cheating husband, she decides there’s no better remedy than spending the summer in Italy with her best friend Daisy. She didn’t expect, however, to run into the one who got away, or rather, the one she left behind and never forgot: Marcello Bianchi.

I was focused on a pair of wide, equally shocked Italian eyes peering over the table. Eyes that I’d recognize anywhere, and they were staring down at me. Forty percent stunned, 10 percent curious, and a whole lotta angry.

With their paths colliding unexpectedly, the past comes barreling into the present with questions begging to be answered, nine years of absence to be explained. Worse yet, one glance at Marcello and all those old feelings resurge, feelings that easily trump anything she ever felt for her husband.

Every day in Rome reminds her of who she was, what she left behind and the life she’d always dreamed of. As Marcello’s anger cools and their connection burns as brightly as before, life becomes idyllic: good food, good wine and the man she still loves, even after everything that’s happened.
