My Review

Sometimes I need the kind of story that delights, that makes me smile and feel all warm and gooey inside—that’s exactly what Sidebarred delivered. It was the perfect mix of sexy, sweet, funny and feels. While the novella focuses primarily on Jake and Chelsea, it wraps up the entire series by allowing us to glimpse into everyone’s happily ever after.

Jake and Chelsea were my favorite. Theirs was both a heartbreaking and hopeful story—six kids who’d lost their parents, who’d find comfort and love under the care of their aunt Chelsea. When lawyer Jake Becker walked into their lives and fell in love with Chelsea, their lives fell into place in a way no one ever expected.

“We’ve been married for about two years and there hasn’t been a single morning when I didn’t wake up with a smile tugging at my lips. Not one fucking time. Because she’s beside me – half of on top of me – and the six little shits we love more than anything are tucked safely away upstairs.”

Life for them is as crazy as one would think, but I loved seeing just how in love and in sync these two were. When a surprise disrupts their own rhythm of crazy, it takes them all a little off course, but in the end, with the best possible outcome.

Overall, if you loved the series, especially Sustained, you will love every page of this must-read, feel-good novella.
