Getting Ready for Spooky Season: What I Purchased This Month

Getting Ready for Spooky Season: What I Purchased This Month

  • You guys know I absolutely live for Fall and Winter seasons. It’s all about the Halloween to Christmas decor transition for me and the urge to start early is STRONG. I won’t start to layer in Fall and all things spooky until September, but to tide me over, I’ve hauled some exciting new pieces this year. It’s a great time to buy, before things start to sell out! Here’s what I’ve added…

I fell in love with these West Elm plates, designed in collaboration with illustrator Rachel Kozlowski. They had such a cool, weird vibe, that I had to have them. Perfect for small bites while hosting a cocktail party with friends.

I picked up a couple sets of washable napkins too—functional, with all the moody vibes. In addition to a decorative dish (for my coffee table), there is nothing like candles to set the mood, and I loved the skull votives and spooky hand glass candles.

Pottery Barn always seems to have the best holiday pieces and I was excited to see if there was anything new and noteworthy. I regretted not buying this skeleton cheese board last year, so it was the first thing I added to my cart.

I also added the cheese knives (because of course), and picked up a couple more of my favorite skeleton wine glasses. I’m particularly excited about the large skull terracotta party bucket, which I can fill up with ice and wine bottles.

Anthropologie didn’t have as much as I had hoped—felt like most of their collection was more cutesy than moody, but I did find some fantastic new pieces. My favorite find was the bronze claw taper holders. These are wonderfully eerie, and in my opinion, can be set out year-round.

I also am so excited about the spooky spiders iron bunch, which I plan to add to a vase as an unexpected centerpiece. These look so cool!

Other than that, I picked up some textured black tapers and a new kitchen towel. I’m also loving some of their spooky drinking glasses. I just can’t wait for the season to start, and the bats to go up, and the vibe to get moody, dark, and sinister.

For now, we prepare (and shop)!
