Review: The Heir Affair - Vilma Iris | Lifestyle Blogger

Making it up the aisle was the easy part: Rebecca “Bex” Porter must survive her own scandals and adjust to royal British life in this “timely and positively delicious” follow-up to The Royal We that’s “just as fun, charming, and delightful as the first” (Taylor Jenkins Reid)

After a scandalous secret turns their fairy-tale wedding into a nightmare, Rebecca “Bex” Porter and her husband Prince Nicholas are in self-imposed exile. The public is angry. The Queen is even angrier. And the press is salivating. Cutting themselves off from friends and family, and escaping the world’s judgmental eyes, feels like the best way to protect their fragile, all-consuming romance.
But when a crisis forces the new Duke and Duchess back to London, the Band-Aid they’d placed over their problems starts to peel at the edges. Now, as old family secrets and new ones threaten to derail her new royal life, Bex has to face the emotional wreckage she and Nick left behind: with the Queen, with the world, and with Nick’s brother Freddie, whose sins may not be so easily forgotten — nor forgiven.

Review: The Heir Affair

Scandals and secrets plague newlyweds Bex and Nicholas in this delightful follow-up to THE ROYAL WE.

After a wedding ripe for tabloid fodder, Rebecca “Bex” Porter and her husband, Prince Nicholas escape reporters, an angry public, and an even angrier Queen. Before too long, however, a new crisis calls them back to London, to face their problems, and those who are ready to call them out for their behavior.

Bex and Nick’s marriage is addled with problems, pressures and insecurities however, and they struggle to find their stride. For Bex, royal life is anything but easy, especially under relentless scrutiny from the Queen.

But just as Bex and Nick work to mend the cracks of their relationship, new secrets threaten to tear the whole family apart.

Told over the course of several years, Cocks and Morgan impart a juicy glimpse behind the royal curtain to see how this new marriage withstands the pressures of palace life. Past transgressions are uncovered and dangerously mimic current circumstances, amplifying insecurities between two people who really love each other.

With an addictive combination of humor and heart, it’s easy to immerse yourself in this gilded world, easy to care for these well-intentioned but flawed people. Real-world royal scenarios, scandals and attributes sprinkled throughout the narrative make this feel-good, super fun romp all the juicier, yet at the heart of the story are very relatable and poignant explorations of family and love.

This royal rom-com is perfect for an all-satisfying weekend binge.
