Happy Father’s Days to all the dads out there! To our hubbies… thanks for letting us get lost in our Kindle day after day… for watching the kids when we’re “at a really good part”… when you don’t say anything after we tell you we’ll be done in just “one more chapter.” 🙂

This week I didn’t get to finish all the books I set out to read with a lot of other blog work that had to get done, but with two weeks left to go until Book Bash and a flood of amazing new releases, it’s almost too overwhelming to know what to read next!

The first book totally gripped me, heart and soul, intrigued me and left me with such a book hangover that I had to take a break to process all my feelings! But the break didn’t last long, because I couldn’t stop thinking about it and I plunged straight back into book 2, which so far is as good as the first! A Matter of Heart will be released June 25th.

One of my favorite thriller reads of 2024 is coming next week! I absolutely loved THE NEW COUPLE IN 5B by @launger!

In the story, a couple inherits a luxury New York City apartment with a grisly past, only to be drawn deep into its darkness. Unger deftly blends mystery and horror in this taut haunted thriller. Its gothic atmosphere comes to life in the historic Windermere—a building touting an alluring incongruity of opulence and death. The characters—all with questionable reliability and intentions—add to the intrigue and as the narrative escalates, guesses will fall short of the surprising and satisfying end. I loved the vibes, loved the way truths unfurled so meticulously!

If you’re a fan of the series already, you know how fun and satisfying these are to read! If you haven’t checked them out, yet, these books are romantic suspense, and have the most wonderful characters and enthralling plots.

🧿 THE FURY 🧿 by @alex.michaelides is out today! You may know his other books, THE SILENT PATIENT or THE MAIDENS. This one was another great thriller with a unique approach to the story. We meet Elliot Chase—the narrator—who tells us there's been a murder, but before he gives us the scoop (who's dead, who did it, why), he lays out the story in five acts. We also get to know the rest of the characters: his BFF movie star Lana Farrar, her friend and actress Kate Crosby, her husband Jason Miller, her son Leo, plus a housekeeper and a caretaker. They're all on a Greek island together with many a secrets between them.

I blew through the pages, wanting to know how it all would go down (I guessed the 'whos' correctly early on) and thought it was such a great book brimming with so much drama and twists. My full, spoiler-free review is on the blog! {linked in bio}

Relishing in my reading catch up these days and recently finished KINGDOM OF SWEETS by Erika Johansen (author of the Tearling series which I loved).

This novel is a sinister retelling of the Nutcracker through the story of twin sisters whose envy reaches a fever pitch one fateful Christmas Eve. Clara and Natasha, the embodiment of light and dark, were cursed by their godfather, and one night, the enchanted nutcracker prince ushers the girls into the magical Kingdom of Sweets, where Natasha strikes a wicked bargain with the Sugar Plum Fairy. Natasha must grapple with what she’s done, facing the darkest parts of who she is, if she’s to escape a future cast in shadow.

This was a unique dark fantasy that’s deeply immersive and nuanced—a grim exploration of envy, accountability, and female rage. It was incredibly imaginative and creepy, feeling like a sweeping gothic nightmare from which you couldn’t wake. I had such high expectations for this follow-up and it was such an epic ride, leaving me of course clamoring for the next book and spinning on questions and theories (you are seriously killing us with these endings, Rebecca!). I anxiously anticipate every Nora release, but this story sounded particularly exciting and I’m happy to say it did not disappoint! In this latest coming November 21st, a woman inherits a haunted mansion and is mired by a generational curse she’s intent to break. Seven “lost brides” killed on their wedding day haunt the sprawling mansion in coastal Maine. Ferreting clues from her dreams, and with her group of friends, Sonya delves into a world of ghosts and one vengeful witch, intent to break the curse that takes one bride a generation.

This is the first in a series and is quintessential Nora Roberts. I loved the otherworldly aspect to it, the heroine’s close ties to family, friends, and community, and the sinister machinations at play that she must untangle. Our first day in Slovenia, after a production meeting and lots of coffee, we spent the afternoon in Lake Bled. It was gray and rainy, but it fit the Halloween vibe perfectly and made for the most moody pics. You can see the Julian Alps, and the lake and town is situated just south of the Austrian border. Synopsis ⬇️

Hale Wheeler inherited billions from his father. He’s decided to take those resources and change the world for the better. He’s married to his mission, so he doesn’t have time for love.
