Fans of Gone Girl will love this hugely buzzed-about twisty thriller about an ex-wife stalking her replacement—a pretty lookalike living the life she thought she’d live ‘til death us do part.

Authors Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen weave a layered, misleading narrative, ratcheting suspense along the way. The story you start with morphs into something far more chilling and calculated, as the first of many surprises get revealed.

We meet Vanessa, once married to the wealthy, controlling Richard. She’d lived in the big house and worn the designer clothing, but now her life was disintegrating, her body wasting away while working as a sales associate serving the socialites she’d called friends.

Her replacement—a sweet, unsuspecting pre-school teacher—is set to marry Richard and she can’t, won’t, let that happen. Determined to change the course of their happy ever after, the story begins to take shape… but it’s not the story you think.

With a multi-viewpoint approach and alternating timelines, I didn’t guess the twists, which kept coming until the very end. It’s a clever, complex thriller about marriage, betrayal and who holds the upper hand. Well done and so much fun to try and guess at what’s really happening.
