A Father’s Fight (#5, Fighting) by J.B. Salsbury (Jan 26)

a fathers fight coverLife changes in the span of a heartbeat—one tiny heartbeat.

Blake and Layla have lived through disappointment and regret, only finally finding relief through the powerful love they have for each other. A love they intend to fight to keep.

They’ve had to forgive each other, but can they truly move forward without facing the pain of the past?

Layla’s been avoiding the phone calls. Nine months pregnant and exhausted, she doesn’t want the complication. But she can’t run from the truth. Whoever’s calling was there eighteen years ago. Unlike her, he remembers the night that changed the course of her life, and he’s ready to confess.

Blake’s preoccupied with an email, a few simple sentences sent through cyberspace that have the capability to rob him of his sanity, his freedom, and the people he loves most in the world. When he’s called home for a mysterious reason, leaving Layla isn’t ideal, but hope for reconciliation with his father combined with his brother’s secrecy ignites a curiosity he refuses to ignore.

Putting the pain behind them is no longer an option.

To get the answers they need, they must face the past and open up old wounds that threaten to bleed them dry.

Fifth book in the contemporary romance series, Fighting.

Past Heaven by Laura Ward (Jan 26)

past heaven coverNot every love story has a happy ending. Some just change your life.

Liz Atwater’s happily ever after is torn from her and she’s living her worst nightmare. Everything changed the instant her husband, Jack, was murdered. She is now forced to pick up the shattered pieces of her life as she faces the daunting task of raising three young children alone.

A world away in Hollywood, actor Reynolds Carter is recovering from the humiliation of his girlfriend’s cheating scandal. The public affair forces him to admit that he wants his life to be meaningful, not just front page gossip and headlines in the tabloids.

Reynolds finds his purpose in memorializing the story of Jack Atwater, whose life ambition was to bring attention to people with disabilities who were living in institutions. As Reynolds takes on the challenge of this new project, his world collides with that of Liz. They never expected their professional relationship to evolve into friendship, or love, but that’s exactly what happens.

Unfortunately, life is never simple. Faced with complications from family, friends, and work colleagues, Liz and Reynolds are left to decide whether two people from such different worlds can find happiness together. Can they get past the pain, fear, and guilt to risk their hearts to love again? If so, would it be worth it?

Not every love story is just a happy ending. Some completely change your life.

Standalone contemporary romance.

Jethro Hawk has found more than a worthy adversary in Nila—he’s found the woman who could destroy him. There’s a fine line between hatred and love, and an even finer path between fear and respect.

Must Read Recommendation

The Golden Dynasty by Kristen Ashley

the golden dynasty coverGush gush gush!!!! I adore this book! I want everyone to read it–read the entire series–it’s that good. There’s something special about this story, something unforgettable about our two protagonists, something striking and gripping about their love story. Circe, our heroine, comes to in a parallel universe, amidst a horde of warriors as their wife hunt was ready to begin. Soon enough, she finds herself claimed by the ruthless King Dax Lahn.

Their relationship begins in complete antagonism, without communication (each speak different languages) and without understanding of each other’s cultures. Slowly, over time, they soften towards each other, fall in love, but not before we see action, betrayal, heartache and magic. This book packs everything in and I especially love love love the emotion it evoked in me. One of my absolute favorite Kristen Ashley books… and that’s saying a lot! Check out my video review.
