Walk Through Fire

Review: Walk Through Fire

Reading a Kristen Ashley book is always a special kind of experience for me. It’s exciting, and I know without question that she will deliver a story that owns me in a way that’s entirely familiar but also uniquely compelling. I love every word. Relish every moment. There’s no other who delivers that experience and does it so consistently.

High and Millie’s second chance romance owned me in that very way. Their story immediately grips you, consumes you with the emotion that begs to burst from inside of them. Theirs is a once-in-a-lifetime love, marred by heartbreak, loss and sacrifice. It’s years of going without and years of burning within, until once again they collide, freeing the emotions that for years they had buried.

“My life had been interrupted and I’d never restarted it.”

Millie Cross stopped living the day she left the love of her life behind. Her life was good for all intents and purposes. She had a successful event business, a beautiful house, a sister she adored, and friends she loved. But her days consisted of simply going through the motions, keeping tight control over all areas of her life. She had it all once, she knew what that was like, knew her life now was only a frail shadow of her past.

And then she ran into him unexpectedly.

Logan “High” Judd didn’t always walk the straight and narrow. He wanted to make a good life for himself and the woman he loved, and often, he found himself on the other side of the law when running with the Chaos brothers of old. But when his woman left him without much explanation, it shattered him. And so trouble tightened its vises. Luckily, over the years, he found the right path, found himself a woman who gave him the two beautiful girls he’d always longed for, even if the relationship didn’t work out.

But when the past walked up to him, a rage he hadn’t experienced in awhile burst forth, squarely directed at Millie Cross.

“Twenty years apart, haunted by you, walking’ around with a hole in my soul.”

Millie hoped to make things right with Logan. She wanted to bring together the pieces of their broken hearts with the truth of what happened years ago. What she got, however, was something different. High’s words and actions cut deeply as he exacted his revenge.

Logan and Millie’s life begin to entwine once again, for better or for worse, in a swirl of betrayal, pain, love, lust and vengeance. But before too long, the truth comes out and everything changes… but could they bridge a divide that spanned years? Could they forget the pain they caused each other?

“I love you… Loved you then. Love you now. Never quit lovin’ you in a way I know I never will.”

But Chaos being Chaos, trouble is never far behind and Millie goes from walking on air to walking through fire once more for the man she loves.

Emotions will flare with this volatile, all-consuming love story. It’s love and heartbreak, sisterhood and brotherhood, family and forever. The story was amazing, gripping, exciting, evocative, suspenseful and of course, unbelievably sexy. I could read a Kristen Ashley book every day and never tire, and could certainly keep reading more about these Chaos boys and the women they love forever. Don’t miss this one—read it, love it, cherish it. You won’t want to let it go, even as tears blur your eyes.
