A Lover’s Lament by KL Grayson and BT Urruela has quickly garnered buzz and praise in the romance community. It’s a sexy, stirring second chance at love story juxtaposed with gritty details and deeply moving moments. In a matter of seconds my entire world changed, and it was in that moment that I stopped living and simply began to exist.
In my grief, I sent a letter to the first boy I ever loved. I hoped in writing it Iโd find some peace from the nightmare I was living, some solace in my anger.
I didnโt expect him to write back. I wasnโt prepared for his words, and I certainly wasnโt ready for the impact this soldier would have on my life. A deep-rooted hate transformed into friendship, and then molded into a love like Iโd never known before.
Sergeant Devin Ulysses Clay did what I couldnโt: he put the shattered pieces of my heart back together, restoring my faith in humanity and teaching me how to live again.
But now that Iโm whole, I have a decision to make. Do I return to my life as I knew it and the fiancรฉ I left behind, or do I walk away from it all for the only man to ever break my heart?

Iโve been living in hell, but you wonโt hear me complain.
These men depend on me, as I do them, and this brotherhood is the only family Iโve ever known.
The Army saved me from a callous mother and a life on the wrong side of the tracks that was quickly spiraling out of control. So unlike most of the men in my platoon, going home wasnโt something I longed for.
I was content overseas, spending my days defending this country that gave me my life back. Fighting became my new normal โฆ until her.
A letter from Katie Devoraโa letter that I almost didnโt open. Her words put a fire back inside of me that I didnโt know Iโd lost. She gave me hope during a time when I was fighting every day just to stay alive, and now itโs time I fight for her.
In the beginning, A Loverโs Lament was nothing more than a story in my headโฆa story about a woman and a soldier who connect from thousands of miles away via letters and phone conversations. I knew right away that it was a book I would never write because I wouldnโt be able to do it justice. Then I found BT, and after reading some of his short stories online, I quickly realized that he was much more than just a modelโhe was a writer. We connected via Facebook, and I eventually shared with him what was the skeleton plot of A Loverโs Lament. He fell in love with the story too, and the rest is history.
Our number one goal with A Loverโs Lament was to accurately depict a soldierโs life at war and the lives of the people they leave behind. We wanted to speak to these people through our words. We wanted to share their pain, their heartache and, in turn, their happiness. Writing A Loverโs Lament was a difficult task, but a rewarding one nonetheless, and we are so incredibly proud of it.
