How To Rock The No-Makeup Makeup Look

How To Rock The No-Makeup Makeup Look

Who doesn’t want to look naturally dewy, radiant and sun-kissed? We all do, of course. But it’s no secret that the no-makeup look requires, well…errr makeup. Here are some tips and products to help give you that beautiful bare-faced, bright-eyed complexion perfect for summer.

Prep your skin.

The first step to giving you that glowy, summer skin is to prep it with proper hydration and even a lightweight oil for luminosity. I love the Youth to the People Superberry Hydrate + Glow Oil for example, as it’s antioxidant rich, fast-absorbing and not greasy at all.

Skip foundation.

The last thing you want this time of year is sticky, melty makeup. Instead of foundation, keep it natural with a tinted moisturizer and SPF. My favorites are the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer (I use the oil-free one) and Chanel’s Les Beiges, each which give skin a hint of color and coverage for a healthy glow.

Conceal as needed.

Since you’re opting for less coverage with your base, use a concealer to spot treat any blemishes or imperfections you’d like to cover up. My favorite for cover ups is Tarte Shape Tape, of course. For light undereye concealing, it’s usually Maybelline Age Rewind, although I actually quite like the Kylie concealer too. But for a natural look, I’m really only using Tatcha’s The Pearl. It’s not concealer, but it’s a hydrating, illuminating eye treatment with some coverage. It really really brightens your undereye area.

Keep it natural with creamy eye shadow.

Reach for a creamy eye shadow similar or just darker than your skin tone to enhance and brighten your eyes. You can use shimmer or not, but use your fingers to press in the pigment, fading the color as you dot up the eye. Keep it pretty and natural. I’m obsessed with Laura Mercier’s Caviar Sticks, especially the color Amethyst.

Groom your brows.

Keep your brows tidy, but light, using a brow gel like Glossier’s Boy Brow. Fills in and shapes with a few quick swipes.

Enhance your natural lashes.

God, I don’t know what I’d do without mascara. It’s the one thing I’ll wear above all else. It gives your face a major lift when you have a minute or less to get out the door. For the no-makeup makeup look, my favorite mascara is the new Glossier Lash Slick. It lengthens and separates beautifully, naturally enhancing your lashes. Highly recommend you use a lash curler if you can, to give it that extra umph!

Sweep on some creamy blush.

It’s just about giving you a light, lovely flush of color and the best way to achieve that is using your fingers and your favorite creamy blush. I love the NARS liquid blush (super pigmented) or again, Glossier’s Cloud Paint. Just dot in carefully, blending in with your fingers for that natural, rosy glow. I also just recently ordered NARS The Multiple, which is a great multitasking product for eyes, cheeks and lips.

Glow naturally.

You don’t have to skip the highlighter, just keep it natural, and again, following with the theme, opt for a creamy option, or use a powder highlighter with your finger.

Gloss up your lips.

Finish off your no-makeup makeup look with some tinted balm or gloss that will keep your lips hydrated, while giving you a hint of color.
