Talk about a huge release day! The Kristen Proby Crossover Collection is live this week! That’s 7 novellas, written by New York Times bestselling authors Rachel Van Dyken, Laura Kaye, Sawyer Bennett, Monica Murphy, Samantha Young, K.L. Grayson, and of course, Kristen Proby. These are stories in which characters from the Big Sky series mash up with those from some of your favorite authors. It’s a super exciting collection and I recently talked with Kristen, asking her some questions on what we can expect. Read on below.
Kristen, this crossover is so exciting! Tell us the premise of your exciting crossover collection. How did the idea spark?
The idea started when I was talking with Liz Berry, the co-founder of 1001 Dark Nights. They had published a similar crossover collection for Lexi Blake, and she asked if I’d be interested in inviting authors to write in my Big Sky world, crossing over each individual author’s worlds to mine. After we tossed around ideas and gave it some thought, I was on board!
Now, you worked with some amazing authors on this collection–Rachel Van Dyken, Laura Kaye, Sawyer Bennett, Monica Murphy, Samantha Young, and K.L. Grayson. I love that their styles span an exciting range, with characters from nurses to celebrities to wedding cake designers, to even football players and rock stars. What was the process like working with these authors? You each built a character, who was brought to life in that author’s world… is that right?
Yes, I started at the beginning of this Big Sky trilogy, Charming Hannah, introducing side characters that the other authors would take and have fall in love with the character from their own world. It was a fun process! I also love that there’s a little of everything here, and I still can’t believe that line-up of authors. They’re simply incredible!
Tell us about Soaring With Fallon, your own book which is a part of the Big Sky series of course and the first book in the collection.
Soaring with Fallon is a book about finding where you belong. Finding home. The two lead characters, Fallon and Noah, couldn’t be more different. She’s a city girl, with no family, who has led a nomadic life for a good portion of her adulthood. Noah was born and raised in Cunningham Falls. In fact, he lives in the house he grew up in. His roots are deep in the community, and she’s never had that in her life. It was so fun to watch her discover where she belongs, and fall in love all at the same time.
Kristen, what do you hope readers will take away from the series?
The main goal here is always to give readers a fantastic love story, and in this case they get SEVEN stories! But what I also hope they take away is finding a new to them author that they fall in love with. The discovery of new voices is the main goal here. I hope each reader gives all seven stories a chance! And they’re all out on the same day, so binging isn’t a problem.
