Review: Still See You Everywhere - Vilma Iris | Lifestyle Blogger

From #1ย New York Timesย bestselling author Lisa Gardner comes a harrowing new thriller: Frankie Elkin is an expert at finding the missing persons that the rest of the world has forgotten, but even she couldnโ€™t have anticipated this latest requestโ€”to locate the long-lost sister of a female serial killer facing execution in three weeksโ€™ time.

Frankie Elkin is an expert at finding the missing persons that the rest of the world has forgotten, but even she couldnโ€™t have anticipated this latest requestโ€”to locate the long-lost sister of a female serial killer facing execution in three weeksโ€™ time.

She has called herself “death,” but people called her the devil.ย

The case was sensational. Kaylee Pierson had confessed from the very beginning, waived all appeals. Despite the mediaโ€™s chronicling of her tragic circumstancesโ€”the childhood spent with a violent fatherโ€”no one could find sympathy for โ€œthe Beautiful Butcherโ€ who had led eighteen men home from bars before viciously slitting their throats.
Now, with only twenty-one days left to live, Pierson has finally received a lead on the whereabouts of the sister who was kidnapped over a decade ago, and she needs Frankieโ€™s help to find her. The Beautiful Butcherโ€™s offer:

When was the last timeย your search ended with finding the living?ย

Unable to resist the chance for a rescue, Frankie takes on Piersonโ€™s request. Twelve years ago, five-year-old Leilani went missing in Hawaii. The main suspect? Piersonโ€™s tech mogul ex-boyfriend, Sanders MacManus. Now, on a remote island in the middle of the Pacificโ€”the site of MacManusโ€™s latest vanity projectโ€”fresh evidence has appeared. In order to learn the truth and possibly save aย young womanโ€™s life, Frankie must go undercover at the isolated base camp. Her challenge: A dozen strangers. Countless dangerous secrets. Zero means of calling for help. And then the storm rolls inโ€ฆ

Review: Still See You Everywhere

Hired by a serial killer on death row, missing persons expert Frankie Elkin tracks down a kidnapped woman on a remote Hawaiian atoll.

Amateur investigator Frankie Elkin receives an unusual request from a notorious death row inmate. With twenty-one days left to live, Kaylee Piersonโ€”known as the โ€˜Beautiful Butcherโ€™โ€”appeals to Frankie for help. Twelve years prior, Kayleeโ€™s sister went missing in Hawaii. Kaylee suspects she was kidnapped by her tech mogul ex-boyfriend, Sanders MacManus, who is building a resort in a remote island. Imprisoned for brutally slitting the throats of eighteen men, Kayleeโ€™s last wish is to free her sister.

With the inescapable allure of a rescue, Frankie takes the job and flies to the Pacific in search of the young woman. There, Frankie finds a crew of strangersโ€”nomadic outsiders with many a secret to hide. Undercover and with a complicated past of her own, Frankie fits right in. Her questions lead to more questions than answers, however, the more she pieces together information about MacManus and Leilani. There seems to be a lot more at play on this isolated island, and before too long, she realizes theyโ€™re all in danger. Worse yet, thereโ€™s nowhere to run when danger meets them head on.

As a die-hard Lisa Gardner and Frankie Elkin fan, I was delighted to get into a story touting such a compelling premise. In some ways, however, the narrative felt like a departure from what we usually see from Gardner, yet it still delivered the excitement and twists we love and expect. Perhaps what seemed different was that the first half of the novel felt mired down by too much detail on the atoll, so it took a beat to really get moving. But it’s worth every moment with continuous high stakes and stellar writing.

Part cat-and-mouse, part locked-room mystery, this is an exciting, action-packed thriller you shouldnโ€™t miss.
