Must Read of the Week

Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly

I listened to this book on Audible and it gripped me profoundly. It had this gravitas, this deeper meaning kind of message that moved me, gutted me. It was such a poignant, emotional book that roused so many feelings as I experienced all the layers of it. It’s the story of two young girls, two tortured souls, living centuries apart, struggling to find meaning in their life.

Andi lives in modern-day Brooklyn. She mourns the tragic loss of her younger brother, Truman, and teeters on the precarious edge between feeling numb and ending it all. But she loves music, and it’s the beauty of it, the truth of it, that keeps her alive.

Alex lives in revolutionary France. She dreams of becoming a famous actress on the stage. Whereas Andi finds comfort and escape in music, Alex finds it in the escape of transporting into a character.
