Seductive, sexy, alluring, captivating and completely addictive.
A hot, 5-star must-read. I absolutely loved it!
I couldn’t get enough of Jack and Laurelyn.
Jack McLachlan is a winemaking magnate and easily one of Australia’s most eligible bachelors. His success and wealth make him no stranger to the complications of romantic relationships and that’s why he goes to extreme measures to avoid the hassle. He prefers simplicity in the form of a beautiful female companion with no strings attached. He arranges relationships like business deals and they’re always the same.
No long term relationships. No real names. It’s his game and his rules.
He’s content to play as usual, but when Laurelyn Prescott enters his life, his strategy must change because this player is like none he’s ever encountered. His world is turned on its head after he begins a three month affair with the beautiful American musician. Nothing goes according to plan and as he breaks more and more of his own rules for her, she’s exceptionally close to becoming something he never thought possible. His ultimate game changer.
Jack McLachlan gets what he wants. And right now he’s looking for his next woman. Enter Laurelyn, an American musician that’s come to spend the summer in Australia and Jack is completely captivated. He wants this woman… in his bed. Laurelyn Prescott is escaping problems in the states. Along with her best friend, Addison, she hopes that the next few months in Wagga Wagga, Australia are just what she needs to get sort through it all, including her last relationship.
She meets Jack and there’s an instant magnetism, an undeniable attraction between them. She’s drawn in and when he asks her to dinner, she accepts… despite that he doesn’t give her his name. When they meet, Jack makes her a ridiculous offer. Laurelyn walks away, but is enticed by his sexiness, by the freedom of his proposal and by the fact that she has nothing to lose if she’s leaving in 3 months. Jack is alluring, seductive, confident and Laurelyn can’t help but be drawn to him.
And holy hotness, does this guy make me swoon! The dichotomy of the character intrigues me… the side who is always in control juxtaposed to the side of him that is loving, kind and is able to let go.
But the more time they spend together, the more their arrangement becomes unique and different. We learn more about their pasts… the experiences that have led them to where they are now. We see the rightness of them despite all the “problems” that them being together presents.
I have to say this book blew me away!!! I LOVED IT!!! One of my favorite reads of the year! It was so much more than I expected. I loved both Laurelyn and Jack as characters and enjoyed the alternating POVs which allowed us to get to know each person individually. Laurelyn is on the short list of female characters I really like… beautiful, strong and talented. And despite the fact that they only had three months together, their connection felt real and intense. And then… the end!!! This kind of reminds me of how I felt with Collide by Gail McHugh. I loved the characters so much, connected with them so deeply that the big cliffhanger left me biting my nails, heart in my hand, reeling from the reality that I would have to wait to hear what happens next. I just loved this book… it was incredibly sexy and steamy, captivating, romantic, intriguing and unputdownable. LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!
