Review: Maybe Not - Vilma Iris | Lifestyle Blogger

Colleen Hoover, the New York Times bestselling author of Maybe Someday, brilliantly brings to life the story of the wonderfully hilarious and charismatic Warren in a new novella, Maybe Not.

When Warren has the opportunity to live with a female roommate, he instantly agrees. It could be an exciting change.

Or maybe not.

Especially when that roommate is the cold and seemingly calculating Bridgette. Tensions run high and tempers flare as the two can hardly stand to be in the same room together. But Warren has a theory about Bridgette: anyone who can hate with that much passion should also have the capability to love with that much passion. And he wants to be the one to test this theory.

Will Bridgette find it in herself to warm her heart to Warren and finally learn to love?

Maybe.

Maybe not.

Maybe Not

Review: Maybe Not

Colleen Hoover once agains shatters the notion that novellas can’t pack a punch. In her sexiestย book to date, she delivers non-stop humor tumbled together with a whole lot of heart. This wonderful novella is all about falling in love,ย moment by moment, minute by minute. Warren and Bridgette were likeย two puzzle pieces so perfectly cut to fit, but too stubborn to try and put together. It was a slow, but intense fall, as they each fought their own impulses to run the other way. Well, it was for Bridgitte, that is, because once Warren realized he couldn’t live without her, he did everything in his power to make her his. Whether it was through laughs, or kisses, or words, Warren made sure that each action he took showed Bridgette how much he cared, how much he wanted her.

There were so many elements I LOVED about this book. I loved the bickering, the challenging, the frenetic push and pull. It was addictive and energizing… the kinds of moments that had me smiling unabashedly. It was fun to read. It was masterfully written. It was funny. Sexy. Heartfelt. It was another Colleen Hoover home run.

Sheโ€™s the best worst thing thatโ€™s ever happened to me.

When Warren first encounters Bridgette, his new roommate, he’s horrified… he did not want a girl sharing his space, his bathroom. But a half second later and a good look at her, he realizes this could be the best thing ever.

I hate Brennan.ย  I hate Ridge.ย  I also love them for doing this to me.
Maybe having her for a roommate could be a good thing.
“Hey, asshole!” she yells through the door. “I used all the hot water.ย  Have fun.”

Maybe not.

Bridgette and Warren start off on a warpath, slinging insults back and forth as their attraction for each other grows. The novella imparts in Warren’s POV and it’s so compellingย to see how he battles his own feelings, his own intrigue. He’s fascinated by everything about herย despite notย really understandingย her… and he can’t seem to get enough. He hates her one minuteย andย is ready to marry her the next. The dynamic Hoover creates is brilliant.

Her hands are in my hair, and I donโ€™t want her to move out.ย  I want her to stay. I want her to be my roommate forever.ย  Sheโ€™s the best fucking roommate Iโ€™ve ever had and my God, sheโ€™s so nice. How did I ever think she was mean? Sheโ€™s so, so sweet, and her lips are sweet and Bridgette, I love your name.

And then one moment of weakness dictates the perfect arrangement. Suddenly, there’s no going back for Warren. He’s all in. Ready to convince her he’s everything she needs.

“If I have sex with you, you have to promise you wonโ€™t get clingy afterward.โ€

I laugh, but I don’t move away from her neck.ย  “If you have sex with me, Bridgette, you’re the one in danger of becoming clingy.ย  You’ll want so much more of me, I won’t be able to tell the difference between you and saran wrap.”

But as both soon discover, there’s so much more between them than the sheets. And once Warren sees the truth and vulnerability in Bridgette, he sees a girl who inadvertently has stolen his heart. And for Bridgette, she sees a boy who has done everything he could to show her he cares. That he accepts her for exactly who she is.

She’s so confusing.ย  She’s so frustrating.ย  She’s so damn unpredictable.ย She’s nothing I’ve ever wanted in a girl, and absolutely everything I need.

I giggled my way through this book, as Colleen Hoover’s irresistible wit collides with her superb storytelling to deliver a wonderfully entertaining novella. Fans of Maybe Someday will enjoy seeing Ridge and Sydney all over again as this unlikely romance takes flight.

“God, you’re such a bitch.โ€

She laughs again.ย  “I know.ย  A bitch who finally met the right asshole.”
